A Paladin, combined with a DPS, can work well solo when leveling (from level 1-20), and also in Adventures.
However, if you are going to do dungeons (Queue Randoms), to acquire AD (Astral Diamonds, the game's main currency), then you couldn't do worse choose, as the Paladin is a very difficult class for a beginner.
The Paladin class is essentially Tank; however there is also a Healer paladin.
You can change the class through Loadouts, a system to be able to change without starting over from scratch.
I advise beginners to make a Fighter, as it has good defense and attack, and it's easy to learn the mechanics, and for pure DPS, make a Barbarian, as It's an easy class to learn and goes well with a Fighter.
First I wanted to start with a fighter tank, but then saw a YT ranking giving the paladin a "very easy" score.
I am not a total noob to RPGs, but only to this game, if that was your thought.
I was referring to this game, Neverwinter, which is much more difficult than it looks, and I don't recommend Paladin.
I can tell you that the main reason people abandon the game prematurely, even before finishing leveling, is because newbies make wrong choices, either regarding characters or races, or because they gave points to the wrong skills.
Unfortunately, we see this every day, and the only way to counter this is to learn how the game mechanics work.
Cryptic is also responsible, because it has a very insufficient tutorial, and because there are a series of errors that induce players also in error.
Because you mentioned race. I would take human or dwarf for the Richter tank.
The Wizard is also a good ranged attacker, although it was recently nerfed and has difficult mechanics to learn.
Perhaps the Warlocke is the best option, as it is a little easier to play than the Wizard and, in addition, it has one more companion, which is the soul.
As for races, they should not be chosen based on race bonos, as, unfortunately, many players do.
They must be chosen based on the highest skills initially required for each class.
Let me explain: All classes that do physical damage, such Fighter, Barbarian, Ranger and Rogues, have Strong as their main skill, as a secondary skill normally Dexterity or Charisma, and as a third skill Constitution. But as we must only give points in two Skills, we must therefore choose races that have the highest Strong, Dexterity, Charisma and Constitution values.
For classes that do magical damage, such as Wizard, Warlock or DPS Clerics, the main skill is Intelligence, the second is Charisma and the third is Constitution.
Therefore, in the case of the Warlock we must choose the race that has the highest skills in Intelligence, Charisma and Constitution, and during leveling we should only give points in Intelligence and Charisma. Later, after leveling we can give some points in constitution with the magical equipment of neck and belt, which is relatively cheap and can be purchased at the Auction House.
Classes such as the Paladin (Tank) have Constitution as their main ability and Wisdom as their secondary ability and Charisma as their third ability, and Healers have as main skill Wisdom, secondary Charisma and third Constitution.
Half-elf - +2 constitution, +2 charisma /wisdom or
Dwarf - +2 constitution, +2 strength / wisdom or
Tiefling - +2 charisma, +2 constitution/ intelligence
Did I understand that right?
And you can easely find class guides on youtube. Search for Aragon or Northside
We must choose the races with the highest skill values in absolute terms, with the race bonus included.
The race bonus, in itself, does not define the race to choose.
PALADIN: Tiefling - Constitution 14, Wisdom 14, Charisma 20 (bonus +2 Charisma and +2
Constitution)
Human - Constituiton 15, Wisdom 14, Charisma 18 (bonus+3 Constitution)
Give points in Constitution and Wisdom
WARLOCK and WIZARD: Tiefling - Intelligence 18, Charisma 18, Constitution 14
(bonus+2 Charisma and +2 Intelligence)
Give points in Intelligence and Charisma
FIGHTER: Human - Strength 16, Constitution 16, Charisma 13 (bonus+3 Charisma)
Give points in Strength and Charisma
RANGER: Half-Orc - Strength 18, Dexterity 18, Charisma 12 (bonus +2 Dexterity and +2
Strength)
Drow - Streng 16, Dexterity 18, Charisma 14 (bonus + 3 Dexterity and + 2
Charisma)
Human - Streng 16, Dexterity 16, Charisma 15 (bonus + 3 Charisma)
Give Strong points and divide the remaining points by Dexterity and Charisma,
because the from the introduction of the Forte Stat, Charisma becomes very
important for almost all classes.
