Neverwinter

Neverwinter

character moving on its own
when i press wasd to move at first it works fine but shortly after i wont be able to stop walking even if i let go of the keys,. i tried everything i can do imaginable but still couldn't solve it, i re-installed the game, turned off sticky keys, my keyboard isn't dirty or anything and this only happens in this game so the problem isn't come form my keyboard, this is incredibly irritating and affected my experiencce a lot, i can't play like this, does anyone else have the same issue? how do you solve this?

I think even with sticky keys turned off, the game still registers the long press of the movement key and locks it on. Try tapping the key to stop the continual movement.

Had this happen just last night in a different game. Normally I use the mouse key to steer and a key for the movement and mine locked into auto move too. Turned out pressing both mouse keys at the same time turns on auto move in the game and I just had to do it again to turn it off.

all i can do to make it stop is by pressing windows key, and even if it stopped, it'll still walk on its own if i press wasd again

there are 4 or 5 things that could be going on... what have you already tried? I am assuming some flavor of windows here, for my advice:

- could be usb confusion. once in a rare while a device is seen as a mouse or keyboard when its not. Often this is either a bad driver update or a broken device, but in other cases you just need to unplug/replug all the USB stuff to see if it clears up. A cold boot (full power down, wait a min, power back up) sometimes helps. On a laptop, do not let it try to sleep etc, it has to be full power down and they like to fake it.
- could be bad driver as noted above
- could be hardware malfunction (try another keyboard just to eliminate possible?)
- could be a bug in the game -- some keybinds don't work well. Try a different bind, esp do this if your move bind is something odd (not a letter or number) or if you use an exotic keyboard or a keyboard designed for non-english users. My interact keybind only works half the time and if you try to use the mouse to do interact, if you pick click you may swing your sword at every chest and npc you click on while 'press' doesn't do that, its always been wonky, and last week I found a quest (the crystal cave / alchemist quest in undermtn) where many binds for interact don't work with the quest item.
- could be something else, but drawing a blank on other possibles.
if it were me.. I would go in this order:
full cold reboot
then try unplug/replug all usb devices, changing which port you use for each one in a rotation or switchup
then try a different keyboard
then try a different keybind
then look to drivers and deeper problems.
