Neverwinter

Neverwinter

Why does this game feel like a cheap copy of WoW ?
Not meaning to be rude and I am playing this for the first time in my life, I usually played WoW back in the days, Diablo, Guild Wars, Sacred, Spell Force...

First 45 minutes in playing Neverwinter, I get this very strong WoW vibe, like the game is trying to be like WoW but in a rather shallow manner, with worse graphics and literally only slaughtering monsters instead of some little differing quests....

Not sure if this is for me, I surely have not understood yet why this game has such a good reputation..maybe I get the feels for it within the next hours of play ?

What you perceive in similarity between the Games is called nostalgia for WoW, this game and WoW the only thing they have in common is that they are two fantasy games, nothing else.

When you miss something very much (it also applies with people) you see that thing/person everywhere.

For how it looks now neverwinter if you have the chance come back to play again WoW which is much better.
uh lol, no, not evne close to playing or feeling like wow

It seems like you have not heard about the world famous 'Dungeons and Dragons' IP. D&D was created way back in 1970 whereas the Warcraft IP was created in 1990. Also lots of games were created from D&D like Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Planescape torment, Forgotten Realms Demon Stone, etc. This game is a sequel to Neverwinter Nights 2. So tell me how can this be a copy of WoW when D&D came out 20 years earlier than Warcraft?

I know what D&D is, even though I was born in the early 90s.

Still feels like a copy as D&D was nothing like this, only storywise. They copied the gameplay from WoW and some of the features.
incorrect, WoW's gameplay is tab target and slow. while NW is more in lines with say GW2 or Tera online.
Neverwinter Nights on AOL was the first MMORPG of its kind and gene. Ultima Online and Everquest came after and improved on them and used alot of the same ideas. Same as Wow did but after all these years WoW has not improved on any aspect but graphics because they have no other games to steal Ideas from right now. Soon as a new innovative MMORPG comes out im sure Blizzard will release a new version of WoW afterwards or just take the Ideas and use them like always.
Neverwinter is an excellent game, or at least it was until the most recent changes. WoW is a very different game and, in my opinion, overrated. What was good about WoW, which made it a worldwide success, was having a highly efficient server, when all other servers, at the time, were a real disaster. WoW is reminiscent of the Zelda series, which, despite its childishness, was a great success. We must not underestimate the financial power of companies and the reach of advertising.
The gameplay of Neverwinter is very different from WoW and very similar to that of Dragon Age 2, which is not surprising, as Bioware is inspired by the world of Dungeons & Dragons, just like Neverwinter, which, although it is an MMO, is an action RPG that works in a very fluid way based on the use of the mouse and half a dozen keys.
In short, Neverwinter, like Dragon Age 2, is a high-level action rpg, poorly rated by specialized magazines and players in general.

This might be an very old thread but If Neverwinter was ANYTHING like WoW. I'd be the first to hear Blizzard introducing a Dice Roll Chance System (Which Neverwinter don't have by the way) or having Daily Powers.

And with the introduction of Dragonflight. That does not shout "D&D 5th Edition" to anyone as these new Dragon Races are not a rip from Dragonborns. They are there own thing.

Lore wise both games are 100% different. 1 is set in a D&D 5th Edition Setting based off the Table Top Game but in MMO Form and the other is not.

Current Neverwinter went more hardcore towards D&D Rules now that levels are scaled back to what the D&D Game is based on rather than having standard levels like Traditional MMOs. At first I was pretty upset but after playing Bauldur's Gate 3 it made more sense why the devs made the change because its a D&D Game not a typical MMO with extremely high levels.

WoW clearly has no Feats, A typical feature in D&D and even in Bauldur's Gate 3.

You can only hold 5 powers and 2 Daily Powers. unlike in WoW you can have up to like 3 full hotbars full of abilities. Clearly not the same game.
WoW was the very first MMO ever made
i wonder how many of the people in this thread still play this.
