What you perceive in similarity between the Games is called nostalgia for WoW, this game and WoW the only thing they have in common is that they are two fantasy games, nothing else.
When you miss something very much (it also applies with people) you see that thing/person everywhere.
For how it looks now neverwinter if you have the chance come back to play again WoW which is much better.
The gameplay of Neverwinter is very different from WoW and very similar to that of Dragon Age 2, which is not surprising, as Bioware is inspired by the world of Dungeons & Dragons, just like Neverwinter, which, although it is an MMO, is an action RPG that works in a very fluid way based on the use of the mouse and half a dozen keys.
In short, Neverwinter, like Dragon Age 2, is a high-level action rpg, poorly rated by specialized magazines and players in general.
And with the introduction of Dragonflight. That does not shout "D&D 5th Edition" to anyone as these new Dragon Races are not a rip from Dragonborns. They are there own thing.
Lore wise both games are 100% different. 1 is set in a D&D 5th Edition Setting based off the Table Top Game but in MMO Form and the other is not.
Current Neverwinter went more hardcore towards D&D Rules now that levels are scaled back to what the D&D Game is based on rather than having standard levels like Traditional MMOs. At first I was pretty upset but after playing Bauldur's Gate 3 it made more sense why the devs made the change because its a D&D Game not a typical MMO with extremely high levels.
WoW clearly has no Feats, A typical feature in D&D and even in Bauldur's Gate 3.
You can only hold 5 powers and 2 Daily Powers. unlike in WoW you can have up to like 3 full hotbars full of abilities. Clearly not the same game.
