I know what D&D is, even though I was born in the early 90s.
Still feels like a copy as D&D was nothing like this, only storywise. They copied the gameplay from WoW and some of the features.
dont bother with his bad troll attempt. or maybe he just did not understood what you were saying? either way...
this games good reputation is mainly due to its fast, actionpacked gameplay. its completely different then wow's tab-targeting and more reflex based. it is fun, especially in chaotic big fights, but can get overwhelming quick if you space out. wow in comparisson is just slower.
the main issue is everything that surrounds the gameplay. like you said, it "feels" very wowy aesthetically because it has its cartoonish look, and the questdesign is, just like wow, a copy of everquest. it gets different enough later with campaign settings, but the early leveling experience is basically every mmo out there.
Ah I see,
yeah I also noticed it is more fast paced, which is something I like though.
The main problem really is WoW became such a success that people think it was the first and only to ever do any of this, hence all the 'X is a WoW clone'.
I'd have to flip it and ask why WoW is a poor copy of D&D.
As to Neverwinter Online itself. It's more of a wack a mole type game, not as deep as many others, just kind of mindless fun. Or it was in the beginning. The last couple of major changes have up'd the difficulty factor.
There is a difference between taking over features and copying a game. WOW was first of it's kind.
wow was not first of its kind. it used ideas from everquest and ultima online and iterated on them, or straight up copied some ideas directly. what blizzard did was in essence what it always did before. copy something, make it easier to play/understand, and massmarked the living poop out of it.
by your logic neverwinter is also the first of its kind.
As I have already said, taking over features or as you call it " using ideas " is not copying.
Neverwinter feels and looks like WoW not only featurewise but in regards to how its made graphically and playstyle wise. So many things point towards it being a copy of the 2004 released WoW.
Would not be the first game to copy WoW as it was one of the most succesful games in gaming history with an entry in the book of world records.
If by "graphically it feels the same" you mean a fantasy forest/cave/city looks like a fantasy forest/cave/city then yeah sure in which case MANY games and movies have copied WoW by that definition.
Playstyle being the same is just not true at all. WoW is tab targeting, rotational, CD stacking gameplay and Neverwinter is more of an action RPG.
I genuinely cannot fathom how you're managing to see the two as similar as you seem to see them.
WoW owes it's existence to Everquest and Ultima Online.
♥♥♥♥, you're better off saying they copied off of Gw2 rather than WoW
Nah. In every mmo that isnt wow, go into the chat and someones either s*it talking wow, or doing this right here. Itl never end. Wow is still #1 so thats part of the reason
..... ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! GTFO troll LOLOL First of its kind?!? You are a funny little troll
