Neverwinter

Neverwinter

So is it still pay to win with a toxic community or?
I am a huge fan of Neverwinter (aka the game Neverwinter Nights) and thus of DnD systems.

This game always seemed to be P2W and when I read discussions There was a huge sense of a toxic , newbie unfriendly, community playing, so I just never bothered.

It has undergone some huge changes and these appear to be well recieved from the posts I have read, so my questions are:

1. I never P2W. WOn't buy anything but the game and DLC with real money. Certainly not buy things to level. Is this game for me?
2. Is it DnD?
3. How is the community really? I am used to a friendly community when joining a server. A non sexist one. What will I really find?

Thanks in advance for answers :)

Have fun :)

1. PvP is pretty much going to be wallet warrior territory. PvE isn't really, unless you're the sort that just HAS to top every leaderboard/score screen, although a subscription certainly makes things more convenient.

2. It's thematically so; the mechanics reference the themes but they're constructed differently since it isn't a turn-based tabletop game.

3. General chat tends to be full of trolls, especially in the city hub. You really do want to find a good guild/alliance, even if it's just a casual-play one, since that's where you'll typically find the good community elements.

It is not pay to win because you can buy everything with game currency. You can get everything as you level up to fully experience the game, it is only when you reached end-game and wanted the best of the best, you'd face a waiting wall as the dungeons can only drop a max number of gold or diamond. Free players will have to wait a couple of days or weeks before they can get the next upgrade and paid players can buy them from auction house.

In PvE nobody is toxic as everyone tries to down the same monster together.

It is impossible to get to BIS content without paying unless you have loads of ad and zen stored from before the P2W switch. The game removed all forms of catching up without spending money! (check my past post regarding this subject till 6 months ago i would have said no now it is yeas)

1. It's never been P2W except in Pvp (just like any game). Everyone had to grind at end game, spending money just helped make it a bit less of a grind.

2. I don't really think so. it's pretty much a standard MMO with a thin wash of D&D over it class & place names etc....).

3. I've never seen the player base be toxic. A lot of chat goes on, but nothing toxic. Now it could be that way in Pvp, but then pretty much they all are there.

f2p games will always have a rotten community, aside from a few nice people. Its generally best to turn off world chat to have a pleasant playing experience
