Neverwinter

Neverwinter

is levelling to cap fast?
I was thinking to play this, but my favourite part of MMORPG's is levelling to the cap, and I usually take months to get there because I play very little. It's a fun journey for me.

I read some people in here say they reached the cap in 3 days. How does levelling compare to the very long "trip" typical of WoW and most other old-school mmorpgs?

Well, you get levels from quests directly now, so it all depends on how fast you play through them... skip as many cutscenes as possible, don't chit-chat around, and you'll probably be level 20 within a few hours of game time.

Think it was 7 zones at 45-90 mins per zone playing solo for me on the Bard earlier this week. Basically the end of the Underdark stage of the main storyline will have you go from I believe 17 to 20 just running the quests as leveling is now tied to the "main" storyline of quests.

Thanks to all for replying. Not my thing, alas.

Yeah it probably is. I've got 23.7 hrs on the new version and am already lvl 14 and some of that time was sorting out my old lvl 80 and seeing what all they gave her and then sending it over to my new character.

They said the level squish to a max of 20 was to bring it in line with normal D&D. Too bad no one told them zipping to max in a week was just the opposite of normal D&D.
A novice player will level up in about 20 to 24 hours. A veteran player in about half the time. However the game remains difficult and the final zone quests, usually dungeons, are quite difficult, mainly because an annoying bug makes the bosses invisible. I saw many players playing as a team, otherwise they couldn't finish the leveling zones. But Neverwinter is only worth playing after leveling up, when campaigns are available, and with the high level of rewards, it's well worth playing.

I would say its pretty easy to get to lvl cap now, even as a sorta "new" player I started a Bard yesterday and he's already lvl 7 with about maybe 3 hours of playtime on him

ah I see. Well the thing is, I really like levelling up, exploring as I go. I don't even like endgame stuff that much in MMORPGs.

I guess I am going back to WoW after a decade of absence.

Same here, I'm a 'it's more about the journey' type.

Could not relate more with that description. Men are always about journeying and life is all about reaching an objective. I guess for some the journey is getting the best armor set for PvP and for others it is the exploration and the levelling.

If you want a take your time D&D game, go to DDO. Yes people can zerg, but theres plenty of people doing content slowly and many guilds for new players.
There is a huge confusion in the minds of some players and I can still forgive newcomers but not veterans. The overwhelming majority of comments only demonstrate that they don't know mod 21, which profoundly changed the game, and I'll explain. After leveling the campaigns open, but also the adventure zones that provide quests that will take the player to more than 33k of equipment. These quests are not repeated like in campaigns, they are always different and some each provide 5,000 AD, almost as much as making a low-level dungeon. Other zones provide advanced level equipment when finished and, again, hundreds of thousands of AD. Adventure zones take much longer to complete than leveling zones, which greatly increases the game's interest and your life expectancy. Of course the game is still very difficult, especially for beginners, but at an advanced level also for veterans, and what I see here in some comments is that there are many players who should be playing browser-type RPG's, more suitable for children, because they come up with numerous excuses not to play difficult games such as Neverwinter. Cryptic has made a huge effort to change and, despite their past mistakes, all honest players must recognize and applaud their efforts.

Well, I started playing WoW again. I stopped back when it was still at WotLK and the Burning Crusade classic servers suit me just fine.
So my search is done, but thanks for all the info.
