Stuck at patching

As the title says, I can't patch the game. It starts to patch download an amount of data (10-100Mb) then stops working. After it I must stop patching and start again until the next 10mb. I tried to restart the PC, use US and EU proxy as well, but nothing helped. 4 hours later I have 4600 mb left to start play. Any idea?

I was able to patch and play, but every time I start the launcher it wants to patch again before letting me play. While in game I get a grey bar at top of my screen that says "patching" and when I log out or get disconnected from the game the launcher wants to patch yet again before I can continue playing. I'm already discouraged to even continue playing since I'm spending more time downloading stuff than actually playing :(

Yea honestly, I'm considering just not bothering to install this game. This is unacceptable.

game launcher options, disable on-demand patching, download the whole game, that should get rid of the downloads while you're playing.
when the download is done, run a force verify, just to make sure everything is in order.
when you start the game, do nothing until it reaches the character (creation) screen on it's own.

there's also the option to use a patching proxy, may be that will help with downloading the game a bit faster?

today is mod update day, so the patch is HUGE. don't assume today's behaviour is typical.

So that is what on-deamand patching is... Wish gaming companies would actually put a tooltip on those options to explain what they do :D Anyway that and all the other options seem useless, still downloading everytime I launch, while I'm ingame and again when I exit the game. The download size is always the same (about 4600MB when I start the launcher and 1549MB when I close the game). Hopefully the new patch will fix this.

well, the 4.6GB download when you start the game should be the rest of the game.
check in the game launcher options, if the on-demand patching is really disabled...
and the 1.5GB when you close the game, that was probably the pre download for the module 12 update.

but since maintenance is now going on, you should be able to download the missing game data and the new update in one go now.

anyway, look out for those update pre downloads, they start when you close the game, let them run through, and you can save some time when that update is being released.

I'm just puzzled why the download is happening every time I play. Having to download a big patch when you first install a game or when there is a big update is normal and as a MMO veteran I'm used to it, but this has been going on for days. I've let the patching finish each time and I've even tried to start the launcher, let it patch, run and close the game, let launcher patch again, close laucher and go through the steps again to see if it is downloading something in "smaller" parts and would eventually stop. Still hoping this will be fixed after today's maintenance... I guess I'll soon find out :D

the Mod 12 update has been in the preload mode the past few days - meaning that some chunks get downloaded whenever you start. I find that annoying so I just disabled on-demand patching and downloaded the whole lot two days ago. I will then re-enable it until the next major update.

Thanks for the advices. It was a huge pain int @ss but I could patch the game using the US proxy. Now I have another tiny problem. Lag. Not so much (about one LMB attack) but it can be really annoying during the combat. I'm playing from EU. Does everyone have this kind of lag?

I'm in Europe (Iceland actually), and no...I normally have no lag whatsoever. There have been cases of terrible lag - the Stronghold marauder event was unplayable because of lag at first, and there was a time when se servers were really suffering from a DDoS attack, but recently? No lag at all.

I got my problems solved with the big update for a few days, but now I'm stuck with a text that says "version NW" and a bunch of numbers :D

For the lag part, only in Protector's Enclave when it is really busy and some minor lags maybe once a week of a minute or two, but that is normal when playing online games.

same issues. spend 3 days to solve. but launcher always starts to re-download whole the game at the start and then stucks at patching.
