I was thinking to play again.. but i dont know if is worth to keep playing, or the game is dead

Dead no but the new players are dead in the head if you think you will EVER make a difference in this game as a F2P. Dew us a favor buy lots of Zen and trade for AD before you quit please.

Steam numbers are pretty much irrelevant, as most players play it directly, not through Steam.

Right now there is a bit of a slump...most players are probably done with Mod 15, and Mod 16 still a while away. There is always a spike in numbers when a new mod is released.

constant updates and patches.

more then enough players around to get nearly instant dungeon/skirmish runs, stuff is still selling quickly on the Auction House, and you can play the game just fine for free.
