Well....let me give you a "shopping list":

  • Gear. You said you just reached 70. Well, the first thing to do at that point is to pick up the "Unwelcome Guests" quest from Knox and head to Barovia (Ravenloft campaign). Just do the initial quest or two, until you get the pack of Vistani gear....then leave Ravenloft and come back when you are stronger. Later on you will get some Seals of the Brave from running dungeons and such. You can use those seals to buy Primal weapons and armor which should be an upgrade from the Vistani gear. No need to spend AD on anything.
  • Companions. You will want a set of good companions, in particular a good summoned one. I don't know what you already have or what your class is so I cannot give specific advice here.
  • Bonding runestones. When gearing up your summoned companion, bonding runestones should be a priority, and a good thing to spend your AD on. Eventually you want to get them to rank 13-14.
  • Companion gear. Depending on your companion you might be able to easily farm gear for it, or you might have problems....anyhow, just aim to get good "double slotted" gear, and put your best, highest-rank appropriate enchants in there.
  • Enchants. Your gear also needs enchants, and to rank enchants up you need a lot of RP Some of that you get from gemstone drops in dungeons and such, but having Quartermaster/Fey/Dragon Horde enchants helps as well .... you can get all of those by playing.
  • Mounts. You want a full set of 5 mounts and at least one fast one (epic quality for now). You can earn some good purple ones by playing - for example, the next time the Neverwinter Siege event is offered, participate every day to earn the Siegebreaker Griffon mount. Other mounts can be blue (which you can buy on the AH), just as long as they give you the right insignia bonuses. Initially you can fill insignia slots with random green insignia, but later on you will want to spend AD on blue or purple insignia. That's not a priority at the start, though. If you play multiple alts, it may be best to buy a purple mount from the Zen store, as those can be claimed by every character.
  • Artifacts. You should have a few artifacts from playing ... Your class sigil, Lantern or Revelation, Bruenor's Helm, and maybe the Empowered Illusionist's Mask or a few others. Depending dn your class, those may or may not be appropriate for you. If they are not, then well, you can spend AD on some that are.
  • Bags. You will always be short on bag space. Spending AD on bags is not a stupid thing to do.
  • Refinement stuff - when you are leveling up your artifact equipment, enchants and artifacts, you will find that you sometimes need things like GMOPs/SMOPs (Greater/Superior Mark of Potency). They occasionally drop at random, but more likely you will have to buy them - either from the AH or the Bazaar.
  • VIP - get VIP. You cannot buy it straight with AD - either convert your AD to Zen (takes quite a while) or spend some real money on getting VIP.. The QoL improvements are massive, in particular at rank 7+
  • Join a good guild (not just "a" guild - you want a good one)... you will find it easier to find people to play with and you get good bonuses.
