Neverwinter

Too easy?
Hi!

Don't worry, I don't mean "lol why the f*ck is everything so easy, am I an absolute pro or smth?". I just wonder: When is the real fun starting? The challenge? MMORPGs tend to have a really easy level phase these days, but it's really extreme here. Running dungeons for 3 people solo without needing to dash out of AoE and such... I feel like I could just combine normalhits with some heals to reach maxlevel. It will be much much harder in the endgame, I know. But still, the level phase is ridiculously easy, isn't it?

When does that change? With maxlvl only?
Can I skip an area to fight against higher enemies? Because I see thee problem that I won't be allowed to accept quests there, because my lvl isn't high enough...
Also I have to finish some of these first areas to unlock my global chat rights and such if I remember right, so there won't be a lot of skipping I guess.

You might find a little bit of challenge when starting the Elemental Evil Campaign with level 60, but with the leveling up to 70 being "streamlined" that much, you'll probably just breeze through it after handing in a few quests.

So yes, the real challenging part starts with level 70 and when you try playing in the new module Ravenloft. Barovia is a very unforgiving place for fresh level 70 characters, and the best you can do there is grab the Vistani Rewards and then go back to unlocking more campaign boons in other areas...

how to unlock chat, auction house and more.

Thanks!

It's always wasted potential in my opinion when a mmorpg decides to go easy EP-grindy , but I guess I'm pretty alone with that opinion when developers decide to do that everywhere...

Well maybe I'll have the patience ^^'

The leveling up process in NWO might be quicker these days, but getting the necessary boons/equipment/enchantments/companions/mounts and so on to survive the latest content will take time...

Try running the daily repeatable 'Ghost Stories' solo at lvl 60. You might just find that is a little difficult.

I want to quickly chime in, and ask how long does it take to get to lvl 60? in a free to play way.
and how much % of the content is actually challenging?

because I don't really want to end up bumrushing through 90% of the content and then end up doing dungeons till I puke like I did in ESO.

the problem I had in ESO ,and why I ended up quitting, was that all the content besides dungeons and raids were all faceroll easy, so like 90% of the content.

is neverwinter any different? just trying to figure out if the game will fit me.

It does not take long to level up, BUT it is important that your follow through the storyline until that unlocks the chat features and auction house that are locked until you have completed certain quests that are part of the storyline.
On occasion some weekends have a double XP feature and sometimes new people come in with the idea a quickly rushing through to lvl 60/70 only to find that in doing so they have missed a number of quests that are needed to unlock chat and the auction house.
Also following through the storyline also nets you some free bags for inventory storage.

There is a handful of difficult quests before level 70, but in general yes...the leveling content is really easy. "Ghost stories" has already been mentioned, but there is also "The Vault of the Nine" - the level 60 quest where you get your class-specific artifact. I have done it with all 8 classes, and for 2 of them I just could not do it solo at level 60 - had to get a guild mate to accompany me.

On the subject of difficulty, there is something really nice that was introduced in Mod 14 - Hunts, with adjustable difficulty. Basically, the hunts start easy, but you can increase the difficulty (which also increases the rewards), up to the point where you could have something that was a real challenge for a 5-man BiS party.

I played this game when it was released. Then I stopped. Returned last month and my conclusion is that the game is way more easier then it once was... It started to become challenging at around 60.

@ adinos
Thx for the tip.

@Doublke Point
and how long does it take to lvl 60? roughly how many hours? and how much % of the content is challening? open world as well?

regarding how long it takes to level, I have seen people get from 1 to 70 in a single weekend (well, a double-XP weekend). I do not recommend hurrying with your first character, though - take it slow and do all the quests of the storyline. You can always hurry when leveling alts up later and you have seen all the areas.
LOL, levelling to 70 is just a tutorial.

@adinos

hmmm ok I think Ill have to wait for the kickstarter mmo's to come out. Because I personally dont't want to spend a weekend before I can actually start having fun. And the ping from EU is horrendus as well.

thanks for the info though! game might not be personally for me, but have fun out there:steamhappy:

it was only a matter of time before this kind of comment showed up.

Uh... for many players the route from 1 to 70 is the most fun part - after that the game gets quite grind-heavy - if that's your idea of "fun", then yeah...the level up process would be boring. As for the ping - I know, I'm in Europe myself.
