How big DL size from launcher?

Full client is around 20GB.

And disable "on-demand patching" in the game launcher options, better to download the whole game directly, then to have it download bits and pieces while playing...

When the download is finished, run a "force verify", to ensure that everything is downloaded right and working properly.

Start the game, and do nothing until it reaches the character screen on it's own.
