Second, go through the collection tab - most of the items there will say where they can be obtained.
Third, get VIP. You will get one free lockbox key per day. Open a good lockbox (the current one is crap, by the way), and either sell or open the drops. If you sell them, you should be able to recover the cost of the VIP and have a bit left over...if you open them, you have a decent chance of useful epic drops, and a (small) chance of legendary drops.
Fourth, participate in events. For example, if you participate every day in the Neverwinter Siege when that event is on, you will earn enough game currency to get the Siegebreaker Griffon - which is one of the better epic mounts in the game, as it gives you the Wanderer's Fortune mount bonus. During the (upcoming) summer event you can also earn some nice mounts as well.
Fifth, to get legendary weapons, the easiest way for you is to just buy the Chult weapons, known as Wootz or Teak (depending on class) weapons. You buy them at "green" quality and then spend a lot of refinement points to get them up to Epic (purple) level - don't bring them all the way up to legendary - save your AD for better weapons later on. The best current weapons are the new sets just introduced in Chult, and once you can survive there you can earn them pretty easily.
Sixth, to get epic Armor and other gear, it is just a matter of grinding - but it depends on your IL and skill what's the best option for you. See the collection tab mentined above.
Seventh, to get epic companions, I recommend just buying a cheap Con Artist and leveling it up. It is a pretty decent end-game companion, and not too hard to gear up.
Finally, join a good guild.
