For starters, why would you buy any companion from the ZEN shop, when you can get better/cheaper ones from the Auction House?

I'd start with Energon and perhaps any cheap healer companion for now, then go through Oathbound Paladin guides (mmominds.com, https://forum.arcgames.com/neverwinter/categories/the-citadel, or google) for Mod. 16 and buy more fitting companions from the AH for the build i've in mind.

Anyway, just wait a few days before going on a shopping spree for any expensive companions from the AH, Mod. 16 has just been released and it will take some time for the prices to get back to a more normal level again.
