Game Unstable

I have been playing this game for a year without much trouble but it is now becoming very unstable with lots of crashes and freezes. Also, some keys are only working after a long lag. For example Q, 1. Z, A only work after several tries. This means I cannot access the mobile phone easily or use the zoom. It is difficult to pick up no1 rod from the rodpod so I have designated 2 3 and 4 for the rods which works but is not ideal.
The bugs with the keys not working has only started I think when the Christmas event began but I have had several crashes now where I have had to shut down my laptop in order to clear the freeze.
Can I re-install the game safely after un-installing it, or would I lose all my advancement and equipment, and would this help? Or can something else be done that will cure these problems?

Your pc will have accumulated 6 months worth of dust.

I clean my tower every 3 months and it's surprising, how much dust accumulates inside.
Afterwards, my temps can drop by 10 to 15 degrees....

Just to help you understand the problem, When a crash happens, the screen freezes for a moment then goes blank, and then minimises itself to the side of my screen leaving my desktop screen open, but no cursor is visible so I can't close the game or reboot my PC. I have to manually switch off my PC and restart it again to clear it. If this is a fault with my PC then I accept that, if you can see that the fault does'nt lie within the game.
It is an amazing game and I do enjoy finding the little out of the way fishing spots. Even when the water dissapears and leaves the fish behind on dry lake bed which has happened a couple of times.

if you have 60 fps at the start of the game and then drops to 10 or lower, then the described symptoms correspond to overheating of the processor or video card. When heated, the system reduces the voltage on these devices to protect them from damage. Most likely, your cooler is not spinning, or the radiator is clogged with dust. You need to clean them from dirt and dust, otherwise it can lead to breakage.
