Game Unstable

I have been playing this game for a year without much trouble but it is now becoming very unstable with lots of crashes and freezes. Also, some keys are only working after a long lag. For example Q, 1. Z, A only work after several tries. This means I cannot access the mobile phone easily or use the zoom. It is difficult to pick up no1 rod from the rodpod so I have designated 2 3 and 4 for the rods which works but is not ideal.
The bugs with the keys not working has only started I think when the Christmas event began but I have had several crashes now where I have had to shut down my laptop in order to clear the freeze.
Can I re-install the game safely after un-installing it, or would I lose all my advancement and equipment, and would this help? Or can something else be done that will cure these problems?

Thanks for your reply. I thought about my keyboard but as you can see, It seems to type ok out of the game. q 1 a z seem to be the most affected, and the escape button. I will persevere with it to try and find the problem but wondered if it was the game.
The odd thing is that the affected letters are all in a downward line on the keyboard...... very strange .

Are you able to plug in a external keyboard and try if the keys are working?

Yes, I uninstalled and installed months later and all my stuff was still there. Though, I did not delete R-Age folder in appdata/LocalLow.

hi yes, I have replaced the keyboard and its ok now, but I still get the game crashes. The game minimises itself but leaves the gold cursor on my desktop screen. If i use the gold cursor to click on anything, it has no effect and I have to switch my PC off and re start it in order to clear it. This only happens while I am in the game and not at other times.

This happened 4 times yesterday when I was in the new venue Kazakhstan, twice when I entered a boat, once on netting a fish and once on leaving a boat to step onto land. The problem is getting very frequent now and I wonder if anything can be done?

Are you certain it's not your pc??

Firstly, you are using a laptop, which (normally) don't have very good cooling.
This game uses the unity engine and is not very well optimised (imho).
For example, my gpu runs hotter when playing this game, than it does when playing microsoft flight simulator 2020!!
It's got to the stage where I'm running it at 1440p, insead of 4k, for this reason.

What resolution are you running at and how many fps are you getting or trying to get?

What cpu and gpu are in your laptop and how much memory do you have?
All these things will have an effect on the game.

Don't forget, you can also choose to run in half refresh rate mode, which should drop your maximum fps down to 30 frames per second, not ideal, but it might point you in the right direction.

This would point to a dry joint or a cable being broken in your keyboard as you would still get intermittent connections....

even whit my GTX 980 Ti i have problems, gets pretty hot, have some lags, its the engine itself. thats the big problem.

Yep. Unity is a pos......

It's got to the stage now,, where if I'm interested in buying a game, I check to see what engine it uses first and if it's unity I check youtube videos.

My system is still pretty beefy (Ryzen 5 5600X, 2080ti, 32gb ddr4 3200 ram) and this engine gives me more trouble than any other.

Check out "animalica" on steam, where the dev says it's not optimised to run in 4k and it uses unity, lmfao....

My Game is still freezing up and crashing my PC. It happens when climbing in or out of boats, when reeling in a fish or moving around the venue. I changed to open beta and saw a slight improvement but now the same problems are coming back again. It does not happen with other games I have, only Fisher. I cannot continue to try and play a game, entering tournaments and club comps when it keeps freezing on me. It is a ridiculous situation that wolf seems not inclined to deal with. I dealt with the keyboard issue and it was the keypad needed replacing but as I have stated before, I have played the game on this PC for a year without many issues and they were a graphics problem which wolf sorted out. Game crashing has been happening the last few weeks and is getting worse. If it is my PC, why now after Twelve months of playing.

I also had crashes but I found out that the f.lux
Software was the cause.

it's strange that I saw this topic only now, it wasn't highlighted to me before, as new..

A good solution would be to send me the logs immediately after the crash. The reason may be, for example, lack of video memory (or main memory), overheating, and many other reasons. Try to enable the "weak computer" checkbox, disable reflections and look at the results.

Hi, I do have weak computer ticked and some other items disabled. The FPS that show when loading is around 60 then drops to around 10 to 13fps when in game which affects smoothness of movement but I have got used to that.
I understand over heating can affect performance but why would it cause the crashes on a regular basis now and not say, six months ago? Also, it can go for 2 or 3 days without problem then starts occurring and might happen one, two or three times in one playing session.
You ask for the logs but I'm not sure how to do that, I will send them if I can.
I did change to open Beta which improved it for a little while but now the crashing is coming back again.
Just to help you understand the problem, When a crash happens, the screen freezes for a moment then goes blank, and then minimises itself to the side of my screen leaving my desktop screen open, but no cursor is visible so I can't close the game or reboot my PC. I have to manually switch off my PC and restart it again to clear it. If this is a fault with my PC then I accept that, if you can see that the fault does'nt lie within the game.
It is an amazing game and I do enjoy finding the little out of the way fishing spots. Even when the water dissapears and leaves the fish behind on dry lake bed which has happened a couple of times.
