Fish species in Scotland
Post edited 21.04.21

I come back to the game after quite some months later and I find you have placed some species in the game that are not present in Scotland.

Black Grayling - There are only TWO water bodies in the UK where grayling survive in stillwater. But this species is Thymallus thymallus not Thymallus baicalensis

Brook Char - None are present in Scotland, or in the UK

Marble Trout - None are present in Scotland, or in the UK

Lake Minnow - None are present in the UK, but we do have the Common Minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus)

I have no idea what Ripus are.

I still disagree with 'river trout' and 'trout' because they could be any species of trout that are present in a river or stillwater, and these are always a certain species.

You don't need to be like that. I was only stating a fact.

Yes there are quite a few rivers in Scotland that hold grayling, but not any loch

You might like to know that I KNOW my country's waters and what they hold

I guess it's possible for grayling to temporarily move into a loch as long as that waterbody has a river running in one end and out of the other? Perhaps when there's a flood maybe. But no not black grayling.

During closed beta when Finland was introduced, we were told that ingame Kulgu is a fictional lake which Woolf made combining parts of lake Saimaa & another finland lake/river.

Create your own thread, don't hijack mine because Finland has nothing to do with Scotland.

I don't see a problem with a bit of poetic license if it improves the game. But agree if grayling are not present in any Scottish loch then they should be removed. They are a fish of fast flowing rivers; the lady of the stream. As for fictional lakes we can't expect Woolf to go out and map every fishery to reproduce it perfectly in the game. So yes for semi frictional lakes but no to species that shouldn't be present naturally.

Fishy you have a good point mate, if the species doesn't exist in the country portrayed then it shouldn't be in the game. Would be better to limit the species to what really exist to make the game accurate. Otherwise it's a slippery slope where you end up with just one lake full of every species of fish!

I didn't know they were introduced. But according to that page, they don't have a strong foothold.
