To 1.: Don't change the friction Settings of the reel. Whenever you combine Parts for your Equip the game adjusts the friction Settings for you. You never have to change anything. Otherwise you risl to lose of brake some equip.
To 2.: It depends on the typ of Fish you try to catch and on the time passed. It may happen that the spots changed because the map got changed of we had a patch. But that doesn't change the base behaviour of fish. If you search for Fish XY at Lake Z, ask in the chat. Most of the time ppl answer you and tell you where to catch them. Alot of fish have a couple of spots which change from time to time and sometimes they prefer another bait. But overall you should be able to memorize the spots and baits for the fish.
In Fisher online it is more important to learn an know where Fish XY can be and what bait it prefers at moment. The Equipment comes afterwards.
To 3.: Zander in germany wasn't easy. it bites at night. Check the Records for the kind of bait. I "jigged" mine at the "center" of the Lake, while being in a boat. But Zanders are rare.

2. This game have "fish migration system". Every week the spots for the fish change. ( something I personally hate ). You will run into this issue a lot. You need to move to different spots and find a new spot that is active that week. After a while you will know which spots at which lakes have species x. Then when a spot is dead you try one of the others.
Apart from that the game also have "bait preference changes" which means fish regularly change what they eat. A bait that works this week might not work next week then you need to try other baits.
What do you mean by that?
In RF4 you will be banned for criticizing the game itself and the developers' lust for money. So doesn't say anything about someone.
No.
The Stars when you see Fish in your Fishing net, after pressing "c"?
Purple Stars tell you that your fish has a "label".
There were "blue" starts in the past too. That star were for fish, cought in a tournament, when it was the targeted fish.
The lables like "red book" or "rating fish", are S multilpiers. Every Fish with a label has some kind of higher S Value. How much depends on the kind of label.
The "rating fish" label increases the S value by 25% = Base Value * 1,25
A Trophy has the label "rare size".
Never ever freeze any kind of labeled fish. Frozen fish will lose all labels and the S multiplier.
There is one other Effect of one kind of label. The "Red Book" Fish will give you EXP when you put them back into the water.
Another Label is "red Kaviar". You can craft the Bait red Kaviar" from that kind of fish.
"Black Kaviar" is a S multiplier only.
