That coupled with the fact that you can basically get infinite attribute points to give them over time, you could turn any of those characters into a true customized companion.
Just a thought.
Im not sure if you can train any skill. If so, it would only be a matter of time, to get any companion "good".
In the end its all a matter of choice anyway. Pick the one you like. Im also using some that i wouldn't consider "great" by any means, but i like them. So i keep them in my party.
I do wonder about it too -- what sorts of skills are actually available in those books.
The one thing they do have lacking though, is all the enforcing passive and skill upgrades that some of the heros have, though the skillbooks themselves are still quite potent. One thing i also noticed, is that atleast the skillbooks i've seen, are not available to select from legacy points. Do you happen to know if they are just simply abilities from classes, or if they are their own special list of skills?
Also, agreed with henry. If you could make it into a steam guide, it could get some excellent visibility and contribution :)
from what I've seen, buyable skills tend to be weaker versions of similar skills. Poison bomb only doesl 1x damage, charge doesn't seem to do any damage at all, earthshock might as well do no damage etc.
