Riddle help

I might just be dumb, but the obvious answer to one of skully's riddles isn't working
the riddle in question is "an observer elder rests its bones, encased in a statue, it stares at who comes and goes no matter where they're dispatched to. One part magic, two parts mechanics, it's a deranged scene, you choose where to go with a strange machine. What is this place?"
the answer that i came up with is the portal circle, but every variation of that didn't work. Am i dumb or is this a glitch/stupid answer?
