Umbrellas

Where do umbrellas come from for the island station locator? I've been working under the assumption they come from the raft, but I've been keeping an eye out and... no umbrella! Help?

mechant will come up with it wave the merchant down and it generates his loot everytime he is not near your raft, its a merchant thing you buy

im having issues like massivly every time the merchant shows up and i flagg him down every day he never has it and ive been playing for 2 weeks irt and im getting frustrated cuz im fully leveled up and have nothing else to do

I've been having the same problem. Flag down the merchant everytime he comes by but he never has the damn umbrella!

Is the umbrella able to be used in any other manner besides the scanner? I see it on a rail on top of the merchant's boat, but I can't get mine to do that.
