Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Inscryption. Perhaps it is worth noting that Inscryption's primary focus is expanding the narrative that was first established in Daniel's first game, Pony Island, while utilizing the elements of a deck builder. The game does not attempt to follow the structure of Slay the Spire (which we love!) or Monster Train. Those games prioritize replayability with the scaled difficulty while Inscryption, much like the previous games, prioritizes world-building and an enriched gameplay with its twists.
I think it is safe to say that Daniel's games follow the "not what you expect" rule. I am sad to hear that it didn't satisfy you, but hey, Kaycee's Mod (it is an official endless mode that is unlocked after finishing the game despite having "mod" having in its title) exists for an endless Act 1 experience that may be more suitable for your vision of the game. Try Skull Storm and let me know if the game is still too easy :)
Best,
maybe just try Kaycee's mod if you dont care about the story/tutorial part of it
On the main menu:
Shift+K+M to unlock Kaycee's Mod
Shift+A+S to unlock chapter select
After finding out the game changed per chapter, the game got even more exciting. They can apply an escape room with a card themed game.
I couldn't wait to try the other 2 story characters board and even though I loved the game, I felt cheated from the other two characters. I was even thinking how it could also work for online pvp play with friends.
Even after finishing the game, it didn't feel like the card games matter anymore and I felt sad putting it down.
Honestly I think with the story mode they have a great presentation. With DLC they can easily expand on the boards and have people enjoy the game from another angle.
