Corrupted Save File Troubleshoot

What is this error?

Your save file can break due to several reasons such as power outages or your device shutting down unexpectedly while the game was saving. As the error suggests, it is not a meta thing.

Solutions

You need to use the backup save file and replace the corrupted the save file with it.

1. Make sure Steam Cloud Saves are turned off.
   
2. Right-click the game in your Steam library > Manage > Browse Local Files.
   
3. Move "SaveFile.gwsave" to a different folder and rename "SaveFile-Backup.gwsave" to "SaveFile.gwsave". We are essentially removing the old file and converting the backup file into our primary save file.
   
4. Again, make sure Steam Cloud Saves are turned off before launching the game.
   
5. You can enable Steam Cloud Saves once you launched the game, played for a while, and quit the game.

For Mac Users

In order to find your save file on Mac you will need to take the extra step of right-clicking Inscryption.app and selecting "Show Package Contents". SaveFile.gwsave and the backup will be within that folder.

Full Save File Reset

If the solution above doesn't work, the next best option is to delete the save file. Then when you start up the game and get to the point where the menu cards enter, press Shift+A+S to bring up the chapter select menu. This can get you back (very roughly) to where you were in the game.
