My toughts on Kaycees mod.
This is way too hard. I beat the base game easily only losing a few times and have as much playtime in kaycees mod and only been able to beat it once. I see the potential in this gamemod but alas its too damn punishing and playing it is frustrating since the potential is there but the fact that your runs are so heavy on rng and losing a boss fight to some bulls*it is just not fun. I suggest that since there is progression in this game mode make the early stages easier.

Thx for reading.
Ps: No, i won't git gud. I rather play something else than keep losing all the time.

I finally beat kaycees mod. Found out after i got through a breakpoint in kaycees mod it became rather easy. I rarely lose now days and it's actually quite fun. I think the problem is that people have different playstyles and a bit of customization at the beginning was all i needed. Turns out that the 2x kingfisher starting deck and and the one with only no cost cards suited me the best.
Hell yeah
Kingfisher deck

Now you shall beat skullstorm with it.

Another thing to note is there's a ton of secret interactions with some cards. Long Elk will leave vertebrae in empty spaces. If you give the regular mantis a growth sigil, it will turn into a mantis god on it's own after a single turn, once again making mantis god only good for getting a Trifurcated Strike sigil. If you want mantis gods for themselves, that's the way to go.

The Waterborne and Free decks are underrated. The free deck in particular can get very powerful if you can graft the Unkillable sigil on to one of your free cards. Glad you could find some decks that work for your playstyle. KM is very enjoyable once you learn what's good and how to work the events in your favor to make OP cards.

Hey there!
First of all, thanks for checking out the game. KMod was a gift to the community after so many players have shown a great interest in Act 1's aesthetics, gameplay, design elements. In a sense, it can be accepted as some sort of an "Ascension" mode of Act 1 with each tier getting more difficult (and also providing some lore pieces). As the game intends to feel fresh despite taking you back into the very beginning, I believe it has to make the player face severe challenges in order to learn, adapt, and beat Leshy once and for all :) Luck, indeed, plays a great role in KMod in addition to the structure of your deck and sometimes it can feel frustrating. I suppose it is the nature of unpredictability of the RNG itself. I've gone through all the comments here —and some folks were extremely helpful with their advice— and noted a few things.

Feel free to share even more of your ideas and thoughts!

Interesting. I'ts been quite awhile since there has been any type of moderator or developer response in these forums.

I see that you have helped with the translation of some of Daniel's games.

Does the fact that you are looking at the ideas and thoughts of others mean there might be a possibility of more Inscryption content, or balance adjustments to Kaycee's Mod?

One can only hope.

While I cannot confirm anything about what is on the schedule, I can confirm that Daniel has finished working on Inscryption and there are no updates planned for it at the moment. However, the next game has been in the works for quite some time and if you haven't already, I recommend you to join our Discord server to both stay up to date and share feedback.

thx for all the answers and help. I have been playing alot of kaycees mod recently. Got to admit it's pretty fun now. I feel that the lack of customization and choices at the beginning turn some people away as it almost turned me but i am glad i did not give up. I feel that if there was 3 starter decks with slight differences at the very beginning would allow a bit more choices to new players.

Also love the new final boss. Heave, ho.

Thanks for the info Secundus! Appreciate it.

Also, just some feedback that you can share with Daniel or any of the other developers on his team if you want:

I've played all of Daniel's games on Steam so far, and can't wait to try his new game. So I am aware that all is not as it seems in his games, and that they always come with a 'twist'.

With that said, even though I love all of his games, it was a bit disheartening to hear all the negative feedback on the forums from other players who didn't know or get that a twist was coming. Yes, I know that most people (including me) understood what was happening and were positive about the game, but the minority of people that didn't get it were very vocal.

I guess what I'm getting at is that it might be helpful to put something on the store page of the next game that clearly says 'all is not as it seems'. I personally don't need a warning like that, but it might help prevent some of the negative feedback from people who aren't aware that Daniel's games have 'surprises'.

Thank you for your time. :)

No worries, in fact I brought this to Daniel back when the game was first released for beta testing and then when he fully released the game. He was prepared to receive such reactions even while the game was being tested. I believe it comes back to how much you want to reveal before actually diving beneath the iceberg. Now that we have a wider audience knowing Daniel's style, perhaps that will change with the upcoming game!

Loved the base game but agree that Kaycee's Mod doesn't feel quite right. First of all, the animations are way too long for a roguelike....runs take a really long time to get to the moon and if you die late in the run it's super frustrating. Second, the balance is pretty harsh where as others said you have to kill the opponent on turn 1-2. Because late in the run, the opponent lays down 5ish power turn one and if you can't immediately deal with it you lose. So slow decks with high blood cost cards are mostly non viable.

While I like Kaycee's Mod, I find the challenge Grizzly Bosses a bit too RNG based, at least in the first area.

If you can get a flying with 5+ attack or a mantis god with poison it is doable. Yes a bit heavy on rng in the first section. It gets easier the further you get.

I wish we'd get a kaycee's mod version for the later Acts, they had some ridiculous set-ups with the various types of decks.
