Even though it is a story rich game it is still a roguelite.
It isn't about getting you to be emotional but to think about a strategy.
The game is extremely punishing so you have to find ways to "upgrade" your character by finding stuff in the room.
I wouldn't want to spoil the game since finding the secrets is the great part, but be prepared for some grinding if you aren't willing to find them by yourself. Or search on google but it will ruin all the fun.
The style and the graphic, and also the sound is terrible (my opinion), almost nothing is explained (even the necessary) and the structure is not like a game, even a card game. I dont search so many infos about a game, or i would feel spoiler. And i like roguelite style. Just it can be called...a game?
- Play with headphones on, volume up.
- Learn the cards, the combat is much deeper than surface level.
- At LEAST play to when you get out of the cabin. If you dont enjoy it then, its not for you.
Because:
- The card game itself is a lot of fun.
- The entire aesthetic of the game is really cool
- The "Escape Room" style puzzles, where you can solve puzzles outside of the card game to reap benefits within the card game is genuinely clever.
- It's a game loaded with secrets that are fun to pull apart and solve.
Let's just say that the game you're playing now is only part of Inscryption. Once you solve the first great mystery of the game, it will unfold a few more times to reveal yet more mysteries.
I like to Describe Inscription as an Enigma wrapped in a Riddle that wears the skin of a Roguelike Card Game.
What? It looks phenomenal! The Cabin is moody and spooky and atmospheric, as befits what looks like a deeply occult card game!
What's ugly about it? The fact it's kinda low poly?
The other stuff it pulls out also fits perfectly with where the story ends up going too.
I did the first part and the candle lit the room on fire :((( Now I have to live on the streets. Thanks for the great advice.
With a lack of other plans for Halloween night, that's what I did. XD
An excellent time to remind people that fire needs to be treated with respect and care! It is wild and dangerous.
Can explain me what is the cabin?
In short, this game is made for hardcore old school gamers, who like the thrill of discovery and unravelling mysteries. Its not made for nowadays gamers who only care about graphics, cutscenes, quick-time events and easy mode available.
Look man if you aren't liking the game just refund it. Other people have given you their opinion, and you have your own opinion. If it didn't draw you in by now, you're not going to like it later on when things "change".
Resolution and graphics have nothing to do with 'style'. But if that is a problem for you then maybe the game isn't really your type. Which is completely ok. Different people like different things, imagine that. A lot of people like the game, but not everyone will.
As far as the cabin goes, you are trapped in a cabin with a mad man who intends you harm and likes to play games. Your goal should be to escape the situation you are in, by any means necessary. In the mean time you are forced to play games with this mad man who makes up his own rules and "cheats', and it is a terrible, unfair situation.
Search the cabin for clues on how to escape, and don't try to be fair about it. Do whatever you need to do to escape even if it means 'cheating' in the card game.
But how you got there and what is really going on is somewhat of a mystery. In your attempt to escape you might discover that there is more going on here than meets the eye.
But once again if none of this appeals to you by now, just refund it because chances are you are going to to not like anything else that comes after.
