About the wall of Grizzlys
How does one defeat it? How does it happen? And most importantly, Why is it a thing in the first place? Why does the game punish me for doing good?

You have the stinkbug, you have the knife (and used it at least once), you have the Bone system, you've met the Woodcarver...

All that and you're 6 runs in, and only JUST now got to Angler's second phase? Where you got hit with The 8 Friggin' Bears?

If so, that's kind of wack. I'd expect that by 6 runs and that amount of progress, the game should stop hitting you with grizzlies at the second phases of bosses.

I took about 6 runs to beat Act 1 as well, I think (I had only 2 runs with the Woodcarver showing up, at least, and it was my first run seeing a Mycologist), so your situation just feels weird.

If the game really is hardcoded that way, you're going to get hit with one more grizzly wall at the next boss and then you're home free.

(Sidebar, this helps make the Man In The Cabin all the more hateable. Roll with it and seek your revenge for his obvious cheating. :P )
Yes, I'm on my 6th run and the farthest i got was the snow biome. And out of the 6 times i died 3 of them was because i got a really good deck, beat the first phase of the prospector and angler too fast and this wall of grizzlys happened. I got: The stinkbug, The knife, The squirel totem part and the extra cards you get by doing those puzzles.
And yes i did use the knife when i was almost dead just to see what it did.

Sorry if you already did this as well but if you win the battle after using the knife Leshy should offer you a box of eyes to replace your old one, there is a special eye that you want to take to progress the story (it should be obvious which one is different). This helps with the clock puzzle.

"Too Fast, Too Soon"

It can happen once or twice when you are doing a bit too good in the tutorial because it feels compelled to teach you the death/bone mechanics. It is meant to kill you, but it is also actually possible to beat. Sadly, you don't really get anything for doing so, but hey his eyes stay angry red the rest of the run which is kind of neat. Easiest method to beat it is to have something like the scissors or possibly the hourglass on hand, clear a lane for a hard hitter (5+ damage in this case), and steamroll the victory before the bears ever get the chance to attack at all.

No, It can happen well outside of the tutorial. I was on my 5th or 6th run. Finally reached the angler, defeated him too fast and the game just decided i didn't deserve to win. This is bad game design.

It happens when you haven't progressed the story enough. This game seems like a hardcore card game sometimes but the plot and story are equally important. I would recommend looking around the cabin and trying to solve more puzzles. If you need any help you can look up a guide online but I would try and see how far you can get on your own. Good luck!

What do you mean by that? i've already completed almost every puzzle in the cabin. Aren't you forum dwellers supposed to know about the game?

It's only there to make sure you die enough times for story related cabin events to happen.

After you come back you'll see the same fight have no bearwall.

It's annoying but it really doesn't matter because you can learn to steamroll the entire game after it.

It's weird. Because i can see that being the reason as to why it's there but the only time i got it was when i beat the first stage of a boss really quickly. And if it is related to story events, Which ones? i was trying to play this game with no spoliers but i guess that's not happening.

Have you solved the clock puzzle yet or used the knife?

Finally, Thank you. Took a spoiler to figure it out.

You should probably solve the clock puzzle then. Try to select different eyes after you have used the knife.

Yeah, it's possible to beat by having a pair of scissors to delete a bear and a 5+ damage attack followup. Leshy just accepts that you know what you're doing and you go right ahead.
