Tips for Act 2 (mage deck)
I picked the "mage" deck as my starting one. I beat the skeleton minions and Leshy's minions, but I can't beat either boss. I feel like my cards are way to weak to manage that. Any way to farm cards/get better ones? Or maybe it's best to mix the deck with the other ones?

I started with the mage deck too. The issue is that the packs you get seem to be catered towards the cards in that area (top 3 are specific to that area, so Leshy's area has 3 from best deck, etc, bottom two are random from any set). I leaned more towards sacrifice/skeletons early on and then transitioned towards the mage deck when I finally did Magnificus' area. Also the bosses have their own gimmicks which may make some decks better or worse to work with against them (for example the gimmick for PO3's fight makes a mage deck cry if you have cards that require a mox on your side to survive), So I had the most luck catering my deck to the boss once I understood their mechanic.

The problem I find with the Wizard cards is that they have little interaction with other categories. Keeping gems on the board occupies valuable space with little payoff. The main advantage of Wizards is that you do not consume any resources by playing your cards. You will be outclassed in raw power by the other decks.

For any other deck, I would recommend mix and match to get the cards you want and to get a mix of costs (energy, blood, and bone). Wizard cards just don't seem to jive with other decks.

Someone else might be able to give you worthwhile advice to power through using the Wizard deck. Since you haven't beat either of the first two bosses, I'd recommend restarting Act 2. You aren't losing much progress and can start with a selection of cards that plays together better.

If you were able to beat either of the first two bosses, there is an opportunity to grind for foils in the Wizard tower and buy up plenty of cards.

I always felt that the wizard deck was the weakest.

I think that it 'could be playable', but compared to the other decks it feels more challenging to win with.

Thanks! Do you know how to restart the second act?

You can restart Act 2 by backing out to the Main Menu and selecting New Game, the same as you did to transition from Act 1 to Act 2.

I had great performance by selecting the Beast deck (Leshy). There are several free/cheap cards from the Death and Robot decks that make superior sacrifices over squirrels.

I restarted the game with Leshy's deck and it's waaay easier. Thanks for the tip!

The gem archetype is definitely outclassed by the blood and bones mixed with energy. It's too luck dependent on being able to play your cards in the first place, the cards themselves blow chunks, many die if you don't control a mox so you have to sacrifice your very limited board space on an otherwise dead card to be able to do literally anything with your deck full of meager cards. By the nature of a card game, there is always an element of luck no matter what your deck is, but gem decks are the most inconsistent for too little benefit
Wizard deck sucks. Clean out all of your cards, then let the game auto build a deck for you. Clean out a few of the mistakes its made, but the AI does a pretty good job and will actually give you synergy.

The game isn't really a strategy card game. There's not a lot of balance. Of the four types, the beast is probably the easiest and the mage cards probably the hardest. The beast deck can have some synergy with the robotic and undead, but the mage cards don't seem to play well with anyone.

For example, most beast cards take sacrifices. But you can play the robo cards for energy, and then sacrifice those to play the decent beast cards. As you're sacrificing, you're also generating bones. The mage cards on the other hand, need very specific resources which can be difficult with your limited field. And most of them don't have stats that come close to the more powerful cards in other decks.

And if you want a somewhat broken strategy, you can play Act I and boost the Ouroboros card as much as possible (it keeps it's stats). Then in Act II, you can purchase this card from the beast trader. Then use it's absurd stats to easily beat people and get lots and lots of foils.

Ouroboros retains its stat line for the entire game. Act 2 gives you amazing opportunity to really soup it up. Once you have beaten one of Leshy or Grimora, you can access the wizard tower. At that point, you can always pick a fight with the training dummy on the second floor. Any fight will do, but this one is always available and poses no threat.

To abuse Ouroboros, you can set up an infinite loop. The simplest way to do this is to play two Cats or a Pharaoh's Pets for infinite sacrifices to keep playing and breaking Ouroboros. To speed up the process, I'd recommend a Necromancer to double your Ouroboros deaths.
