Botopia - can't find smelter room or unlock bridge

I've been stuck on this for hours. I've gone everywhere possible and the bot wants me to "get something from the smelter room". When I go up, someone by the bridge just says to "go south to unlock it". I've gone around the map multiple times and I'm so confused as to what to do and looking for a solution on google and steam discussion has been fruitless. Can someone help me, cuz I think I missed what he said and now it's just repeating the same lines.

go out off the "play room", walk to the place where you got the battery and to the left of that is the door to the smelter room

This was driving me nuts for so long. I must've been doing something when he said where to go and missed the dialogue.

Yea i also missed the dialog, had to roam around for a while beating bosses to figure out what the dialog must have said
