[spoilers] Question about the end of Act1

I didn't know there are more before I read the discussions, but I finished Act 1 and it took me to a really dark room with almost no space to maneuver. All I see is a candle far away that I can't get to. Does anyone care to explain what this is supposed to mean? I know you can do Act2 and so on if you exit and do a new game, but I want to know why I'm trapped like that at the end of Act1.

There's about a hundred steam topics about this; this is a puzzle requiring you to remember that you didn't "start a new game" at the beginning but pressed "continue" instead.

You found the new game button in that room, and it went back to where it belongs, hence why the room is dark.

Not that I found, you can safely go to main menu and start a new game to continue the story.

You mean in that room where you picked up "new game" card? nope, there is nothing you can do.

I was wondering the same thing, but I also played the alpha of this game a while back and was wondering if the game knew that. But it seems to be like that for everyone? so I guess it's not that reason...
