Am I supposed to use and keyboard and mouse, or controller? Is this meant to be in first person?
How I am I supposed to go from my hand to the deck? I've been using mouse and keyboard and everything is so janky. I've managed to get as far as the cabin and the gamemaster dude asked me to get an item. I had to randomly spam to place it. I came here after not being able to understand how to sit down. I guess this is intentional? I guess it's meant to be a call back to old school games and an attempt to be immersive, but I can't imagine buying this now if these controls aren't something you can change in the release. They're completely preventing me from doing the card game.

Its a point-n-click based game where you use mouse for interacting stuff and WASD key buttons to move camera (and move around cabin).

The menu teaches you how placing cards work with mouse button, while the moving camera teaches you about it when it shows corresponding keyboard buttons shown on screen.

Okay. So this is on purpose then. I really wish it wasn't. Even the menu is really bad. Was really looking forward to it.

I just learned that this is how the controls are supposed to be and I don't like them. The person who answered described that what I was doing was exactly how it is supposed to work and I really really dislike it. I was looking forward to buy the game and now I won't. The trailer doesn't clearly indicate gameplay controls. It's a quality of life thing for me because I've been playing games for the past 35 years. I know what point and clicks are and this is not something I'd think someone would keep in a new game with this much complexity. You can think it's great and love it. I don't have to think the same.

How the controls are supposed to be: WASD to move in a 3d space. Mouse to click on stuff. This isn't revolutionary. This is 99% of games.

So because they used the standard of WASD to move in 3d space that has been around for as long as you've been playing games you're not to going to buy?

I've been playing just as long as you and I found the controls to be fairly intuitive and obvious. I feel like you're punishing yourself for not paying attention...

That's what I'm saying. It's barely 3D. Each step forward moves me directly into a wall, then requires me to use mouse wheel to zoom out. Usually, you just use wasd to move in a smooth motion instead of only having single directional input. It is like it was built for a controller, but as I have seen in other threads it is not. I cannot look up and down as I would in other games. I'm really not sure how else to explain it other than it feels like a game from 30 years ago without any quality of life upgrades. Kind of like playing Myst or the orginal Doom, rather than Portal or Slime Rancher or Valorant. I just think they are bad and janky.

I'm not bashing on the concept, the art, or the actual cardplay. But I simply can't get over the controls.

I see what you're saying, but I think that's part of the "feel".

The premise seems to be the main character "player" found an old game, hence why the game has old style graphics and controls. It's retro for a reason.
Think of it less like moving, and more like switching cameras. It's one click of a button to do a thing, not press and hold.
Go play a first person dungeon crawler

so if your moving when in the house its w to move forward and the other keys move your camera to the direction you want to move you can use mouse click to interact with objects i think the controls are fine and very understandable with a little effort

It just controls like an old school dungeon crawler, you move on tiles outside of the card game.

Going from the table to your deck is as simple as using the the directionals to go up... and then down. You'll get used to it, especially if you've been gaming for 35 years.

I really wouldn't let such a simple thing, that you can absolutely become accustomed to, prevent you from playing something that seems really special.

I'm with @Mileena. I do not find the controls at all intuitive, perhaps because I have never played an old school dungeon crawler. But I do like card games from MTG to Slat The Spire, so I thought I would give this one a try.

I can't figure out who to sit down after getting the candlestick either. I found this post in search and came here expecting a helping hand from a fellow gamer but I didn't find anything of the sort.

As I am sure @Mileena has, I have been paying attention as I played the game. I know how to use WASD and the middle mouse wheel. I know hot to left mouse clock and place, etc. and I was just looking for a straight answer to a simple question, but the people here treat it like it was a mystery that has to be earned by trial and error.

Well, I have better ways to spend my day, so unfortunately, though this game might have great potential, I will let it pass in favor of something that I find fun instead.

I feel at this point if you can't figure out how to sit down from context clues this game might not be for you.

The Switch port has native controller support, why can't the PC version have that too?
