did you verify files?

I had that happen with pass updates and found that the game was missing a couple of files and verifying files fixed it.

I see so many comments about easy fixes and some many saying to verify.

They still need to fill in that gaping chasm of cut content in-between the prologue and the first act before they get my thumbs up. Even then it still won't be the game they promised.
