Skip Dialogue broken

It's broken on pretty much every non-vendor npcs. The button is there, if you press it you get the glitchy VFX and audio cuts out, but the npc's animations don't speed up so you still end up having to wait for the entire duration of the dialogue.

I got it to trigger once before by spamming the fast forward button during Run This Town. This is a new save file, and I have no idea what triggered it to happen, and it still seems to occur even if I load up an old save file.

Anyone at all have an idea on how to fix this? This is making the game borderline unplayable for me.

Since I reinstalled the button changed for me. You have to hold the button, which I'm sure you know and some interactions are not skippable. You might want to check the skip setting in the menus to make sure it's set correctly.

It's set correctly. I tried both option types and they behaved the same. Works as expected except it just doesn't speed up npc animations.

Okay, I ended up "solving" this by installing a mod called "skip unskippable cutscenes" which works by simply speeding the game up. It should sidestep the issue.

I have no problems skipping scenes by holding Y.

You say it's set correctly but are you assuming that or have you looked?

No like this is a glitch. I think it's either letting me skip dialogue you're not supposed to or it's trying to skip the animation for the wrong NPC. I am doing everything correctly, I have the glitchy VFX that you get when you skip dialogue and everything, and everyone else gets sped up. It's just the npc I'm talking to doesn't get sped up. Nothing to do with control schemes, I've checked.

Is it an NPC conversation that you can skip or is it everyones? Some you can't skip.

It doesn't matter because I shouldn't be able to skip unskippable dialogue anyways. It's a glitch.

And no this applies to dialogue you're meant to be able to skip.

I fixed this by switching back & ford the skipping dialogues options in settings

it seems like it eventually fixes itself, there's probably a super niche action you can do that fixes it (i.e opening your car radio menu) but I haven't been able to pin it down

Activate and deactivate subtitles (all settings) fixed it for me
