So an early Christmas for me this year (in 3 to 5 business days)!
Hopefully I'll be able to keep this for a while, and upgrade components when needed. The 4090 is still over twice the price of the 4080s here...
Anyway, watch out Night City!
Now what to get for x mas this year for me. I should finish my water cooling. Just too lazy tbh and my current cooling works great atm. But i have these expensive gpu and cpu water blocks sitting in a drawer. And 2 420mm radiators installed in the case but not connected to anything.
I had a carport built for my truck. Guess that was my early x-mas present. Hate having to wipe off snow or scrape off ice. Being disabled it's very difficult for me. Starting Oct 2nd i'll be building a front porch. May have to buy a smoker after that to go along with my bbq grille. Perhaps a different outdoor propane heater for winter. Perhaps update outdoor furniture.
Except for water cooling not being finished i don't really need anything computer wise. Kinda set atm. I mean i wish i had an rtx 4090 but as you said price is just to high to justify buying one. I'm sure a game will come out soon where my rtx 4080 just won't be strong enough. Sadly it's part of pc gaming. But hope i get a couple more years out of it.
Enjoy the new puter. I'll reply to your future posts of "HELP" my pc runs the game like garbage. lol jk
The 'new home' for my old one will be replacing an old laptop I use in another room for now
Thanks for the tip about the 4TB. I checked, and it was actually over twice the price of the 2GB here, about 500 US dollars, if I read it right...
And it was originally a PC with reduced price (500 dollars actually, or 5000 NOK), but you could upgrade the components, so I actually upgraded everything except the cabinet / tower, and still got the 5000 discount, which was nice. So I was focusing on the other components, mainly. I'll get more disks later. I actually prefer several disks instead of one large one, so...
This was the one I bought, but upgraded, for about 10 000,- NOK / 1000 US dollars increase in price to about 37 000,-, so I had top stop there

One thing I noticed is that about an hour after I bought it, they launched another huge campaign sale on gaming PCs, but I don't want to look now
Buying new PC components is always a 'should I wait or buy now'-issue indeed, so just have to jump in and buy at some time and swallow any regrets, and enjoy it instead.
Good luck with your porch! I live in a rented apartment currently, so I'm not faced with many other 'expensive decisions'.
I saw your Starfield screenshot on your profile, so now I'm also looking forward to playing that with the new rig! I like that game very much, as opposed to many others on the forum
there...
All the best!
I tend to wait a little bit for parts and try to get them on sale. I may hold off installing stuff for over a year. It's been almost 2 years for my water cooling parts. Took me over a year to install my 13600kf system. I got the sammy 4tb 990pro on an Amazon sale 2 months ago for $350 and right now they're on sale for $290. You just can't win. lol
Oh black friday is around the corner er late Nov i guess. Wanted something but already forgot what. I really need to write stuff down. Like your puter sale we like to be frugal when we can.
One way to list all the specs (and how I've done it), is to just enter some empty lines and write Specs: on top, so the 'View more info' arrow shows, then you can write all you need below
Black Friday has (sadly) become a big thing in Norway as well. Many stores and chains have been 'caught' in that they gradually raise the prices in the weeks and months before, then during Black Friday / Black Week they set the prices back down to normal and call it sales...
