Fixed my crashes (SFC and Underclocking GPU)
My game was crashing every 5 minutes and I've spent the last full day testing memory, testing CPU, testing GPU, re-seating everything etc. and everything is fine. Temps are great due to open loop watercooling.

I did 2 things which may have helped.

I ran the Windows system file checker first:
Press your windows key
type:
command prompt
right click on the command prompt and run as admin
type:
sfc /scannow
it may take a while, mine found a few missing files and downloaded them

Then I downloaded MSI afterburner, and noticed my clock speeds were far too high (I have an Aorus Xtreme 1080Ti, but my clock speeds were 12% higher than they should have been for this card).

I dropped my core clock by 291MHz and my memory clock by 28MHz (memory speeds are weird, for my card it's the reported memory speed divided by 4 in HWMonitor).

I'm using the older 460.89 drivers as the last 2 driver releases were unstable.

Intel i7 7700K
Aorus 1080Ti Xtreme 11GB

Well the game has been running for the entire prologue without crashing.

I don't know if it was 1.05 or the things I tried, but it seems to work now. So if you're crashing (I was soft-crashing) it's worth a shot.

The newest drivers are absolutely not required if you have issues with them (solid colour crash on both monitors in Windows).

hi been looking at and testing your method to try and fix the crashes, i did sfc /scannow and nothing was missing and i'll test it now or soon, also my specs are a little older than yours but the game still runs but still crashes if you'd like i could post my specs? or not if you don't want to see them?

I can attest to this. Had crashes with varying frequencies. Underclocking my GTX 1080 core by about 300 MHz helped. Didn't have a crash since.
