When I had it installed, my GPU usage would drop from 90%+ to a low 30%+ ( So with my particular config my fps would drop from 60-50 to around 20 ! ) So if you have that AV and getting weird performance problems, consider uninstalling it ( Simply disabling it doesn't work )

I just tried to reproduce the behavior on my system with Avast Free Antivirus and a clean profile but have been unable to do so. I ran a smartscan, Fullscan while starting the game and or during and I noticed zero FPS drop.

The resources Avast reserved for processes Avast Antivirus, Avast Antivirus engine server, Avast remediation.exe avastwscReporter, Avast Software Analyzer and aswbiDSAgent was total:
156MB
1% CPU
0% GPU

So it might be something involved with either hardware combo or software linked to your GPU driver. Anyone uses something like NVIDIA GeForce Experience or ATI equivalant to manage the GPU ?

I imagine you are using the latest drivers for the graphics card ? And when did your performance drop ? With patch 1.2, hotfix 1.2.1 or hotfix 1.2.2 ?

yes my card is up to date, and I took a long hiatus after initial launch so I can't remember if I had this problem at launch or recently.
But I've tried everything and can't figure out why this is happening, I wonder if something isn't compatible or just isn't connecting right code wise.
I've un-installed and deleted all files and reinstalled and still have the issue.

Let's try to remove any layer that could affect the game : Did you disable the Steam Overlay for Cyberpunk ? If not, do it and see if it fixes anything.

No surprise Avast is a load of rubbish so is AVG - full of adverts etc, Norton and McAfee are the worst of the lot considering you pay for them. Get MS Windows Security instead, it's the best security suite out there.

I will never use mcafee on account of how rubbish of a person the founder mcafee is, he's a murderer and rapist.

that fixed it, thanks.
strange how it was steam overlay, guess CD RED still needs to work out some kinks in regards to making cyberpunk compatible with steam overlay.

Yeah, they really upgraded their in-house engine in a really odd way for this game ! Any kind of software that might act as a kind of layer between the game, the OS, the CPU and the GPU can cause some kind of issue. I hope the future patches won't cause some other unfortunate cross-compatibility problems...

is this in house engine upgrade why I now have to run the game on the lowest settings instead of at medium like I used to?

Good question, I have no idea why it degraded the performance for users that have the same specs as you; I guess they botched something down the line with their optimisation passes.
