A Weird Hang Loading The Game - Application Error REDLauncher.exe
Game ran smooth before the update. Now when I start the game it loads the Cyberpunk game screen then freezes for 2 seconds, lets go and freezes again. The game will then load. Never had this issue before the update. I don't run mods, never have.

I checked the new game settings and didn't see anything weird just had to reset it to Ultra. I load the game from the Cyberpunk icon which launches the CD launcher and hit Play from there.

During the Cyberpunk splash screen? Sounds like it's just rebuilding shaders which can cause choppiness. It does it after a game update or driver update. If that's the case then that's fairly normal behavior. Should become better after a while, assuming this is what you're experiencing.

That error is caused by the redlauncher force-exiting itself once you hit Play. I sent them that log months ago and it seems to be harmless from my understanding. I get them too.

Yes it happens on the splash screen as soon as the game starts after hitting Play. I've never seen this problem or had the launcher error. Welp good to know my problems are normal, lol! Thanks for the reply! :)

Well I submitted a ticket to GOG since Cyberpunk had a link to their help page if the launcher was giving errors. They did reply today with the following:
I cannot guarantee how will the troubleshooting steps I suggest affect your game and your system seeing your version of the game has not been tested on our lab computers here.

I hope you understand.

>>>Just to hopefully help:
Please create a backup copy of your saved games.
The save files can be found by using the combination of WIN key+R and typing:
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

Also, once you backup your game saves, please try going to this location:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CD Projekt Red
Next delete the Cyberpunk 2077 folder and restart your game.

Should the issue persist, please also go to:

%LOCALAPPDATA%
Find and delete the REDEngine folder and (once again the Cyberpunk 2077 folder) restart your game.

Nice they replied. Will try this and see how it goes. :)

As for my hang when the game starts, that is still happening. Cannot submit a ticket to RED as I am running an older driver but I refuse to update with all the black screen issues. When that gets worked out I will update cause right now I can play.

That's good, let me know what happens, but I can tell you that I've completely clean reinstalled the game and the redlauncher, and that error is still happening in the event viewer for me. Happened after an update earlier this year if I remember correctly, could be Windows. It's not exclusive to Cyberpunk either, happens on The Witcher 3 aswell. Doesn't seem to do anything other than to create an error entry upon launch.

And that hang happens to me too, aswell as many others, I am on the latest driver. As long as it's working correctly then you can safely ignore it. It's a possibility it's just a gpu state info or pipeline state object that's doing it.

Thanks for the reply. I have a feeling it will be the same. Just one of those "bugs" that shows up every now and then. :)

I did this. before I deleted those folder I only had the game crashing. After deleting them folders my computer crashed completely and restarted. yay.

It's the shaders being built
catch22atplay Jan 29, 2024 @ 5:10pm
csocso, Rebuilding shaders is very cpu intensive. If comp restarted it means cpu went over temp typically. If it shuts down it's typically PSU issue. There are other reasons but those are the most common by a large margin.

I'm having the same problem. Have you solved it?

Nope still have the hang when it starts up as well as the launcher app error. Something happened with the last update for sure. I can still play just living with those two issues. :(
