el capitan car missions bugged

so i get in the car, after killing the threats.
no one shoots at me..
i dont have a scratch on it..
i drive for like 30 seconds..
and he calls me and tells me im a failure..
he hasnt even set the conditions for the theft and im already failed?
i have to keep reloading saves ( SAVE BEFORE YOU GET INTO THE CAR! PROTIP) to try and get it to shift from whatever cause that bug to a dif kind ( like a timer race to a pursuit)
anyone else?

this bug is a huge time sink and waste

it was in pacifica last time i noticed.. but last patch seems to have fixed it for me for the most part

Curiously, it just happened for me again and indeed it happened when I entered Japantown!
Any ideas as to why this bug occurs? I still had 2+ minutes on the timer, so I didn't fail it. Not the first time it happens either.

It did not occur on my OG playthrough, so I would suspect some questline in Japantown blocking progress.

Having this same issue now so curious if anyone found a fix or what causes it to happen when you hit JapanTown. so far it's just been the one little yellow car I steal in Dogtown and no matter how the quest goes (either running from enemies or the timer) it fails me when I hit the same spot in the map.

having the same issue (PS5) with delivering a car in japantown. i follow the marker as usual, down to the very line, and capitan still calls me telling me i ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up as soon as i hit a certain mark on the map.

Same issue. Takes all the fun out of that part of the game. Still no solutions?

Ok. Found a way around this. Don't know if it will work every time, but as soon as you get the coordinates, don't follow the gps signal but go into map. Make a waypoint somewhere else and drive there. The times will adjust so it's still manageable to get there on time. I've tried this a couple of times and so far it works fine. ;-)
