10 FPS w/ Pathtracing
I get 8 - 11 FPS with Pathtracing on, yet I'm reading posts that people play normally with this setting turned on. What the hell?

My specs:
3090
i9-13900K
32 GB DDR5
Samsung nVME Pro SSD

What's the deal? I get I'm one generation behind having the best GPU, but barely scraping 10 FPS? How is everyone else playing the game, driving and combat, with this setting on?

Pretty sure I did, I'll check tonight. Is that really going to give me back 40+ FPS to make it barely playable? The hell is everyone else getting with PT on?

Well, depends on what resolution you're on ... on 4K, just forget about it.

90% sure you did not turn on DLSS, you probably clicked DLAA by mistake.

I can get path tracing going with 60 fps if i optimize my settings, id rather be a sdteady like 80 with out it though at the moment because dogtown is more demanding. only place in the game i notice my steady fps change tbh.

3080 oc edition, 12gb vram
i7 12700k
32 gb ddr5
nvme m.2

Maybe it's because I've got everything maxed out besides SSR. I'll keep testing.

With PT everything grinds to a halt, here, but I'm on 4K with Psycho RT and everything else maxed out. 40ish FPS with DLSS without PT.

Short answer:

Pathtracing and maxed out settings will give you 45-60fps in 1080p (4k DLSS performance) if you use something like RTX4080@7700x

So, 8 - 11 FPS with Pathtracing ON sounds NORMAL in 4k

What 2k resolution, you mean 2048 × 1080 because that is 2k resolution, or you mean 1440p. If its the first without DLSS then it should be around 30 if its second then that seams right without DLSS

Pretty sure you have to fiddle with the settings for DLSS.

I got a PC built myself, without DLSS its slow about 15-40 FPS in 4K with PT depends on where really.
Been playing at Pysco level RT quality DLSS probably over 140 FPS, although I hear dogtown is rough I have not noticed.
My PC should handle PT fine at about 100-120 FPS though still wanted to see Pyscho level for the first time all the way through the game so and well going to do a hard mode run next anyway.

3090 is NOT a path tracing capable GPU at 4K. Yes you can turn it on but you will need to upgrade and have frame gen on for that.

I dont think you can with Path Tracing, that's experimental. For Ray Reconstruction, you should be able to do DLSS Balanced or Performance. I've got a 3080ti and dips below 60 with ray recon and dlss on performance. Though I'm doing practically 4k on an Ultrawide.

Got it, so anybody saying they're playing with PT is either at 1080p or lower, or they're on a 4090+ with DLSS and Ray Construction enabled.

Absolutely, frame generation sounds crucial with PT. I'm not sure if a 4090 can handle 4k with PT, but being at 1080 for 60+ sounds more likley.

With a 4080 4k is hard enough while also dealing with Ray Tracing and path tracing. Its gonna be 2 to 4 years before pathtracing even starts to become a thing. Right now its just a buzzword to sell GPUs.
