Consistent Crashing
Hey! This is my first time playing Cyberpunk 2077 cause my old computer wasn't able to run it, and my new computer most definitely can.

My first crashing problem is upon launch, it will open the Launcher, but then when I go to open the actual Cyberpunk application, it crashes. Although this isn't actually my main problem, as after I launch it 2-3 more times it suddenly works, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

My main problem is the game consistently crashes about every hour or so, sometimes it doesn't even last an hour. I can't find any pattern to when this happens other than it seems to be after around an hour. I've tried various fixes including:
  • Turning off Frame Generation
  • Verifying integrity of game files
  • Disabling Ray Reconstruction

My specs should be more than enough to handle the game at max settings, but I will list my PC specs anyway:

    GPU: Nvidia RTX 4090
    CPU: Intel i9 13900KF
    RAM: 64 GB

I would appreciate any help or suggestions cause from the few hours I've managed to play the game I've thoroughly enjoyed it!

Game keeps crashing
Hello all,
Hopefully someone is able to help me with this but my game keeps crashing when loading in my save games. Doesnt matter which save i pick it just seems to crash every single time. I've been wanting to load back into this but have had zero luck :/
I appreciate any feed back
I have cleared some saves hoping that was it, already uninstalled and reinstalled the game several of times, game is also fully updated to the newest version. Starting to lose hope and might bite the bullet and start a new game

DLSS_D in the usersettings file, under appdata.

Make sure it is set to "false"

This helped for a while.

I was having the same issue, but I got the game to work. I kept verifying the files for almost an hour. Restarting and I kept trying to run the game again & again. I finally got it to work. I did go to the file location a few times to right clicked on the game exe file and clicked on it to run as administrator. Yep, kept crashing but rinse and repeat and finally got the game going. Its not crashing anymore. I'am able to play exit and load right back in even after shutting off and coming back. I was having the same issue with BF V did the same kept repairing verifying the files rinse and repeat got it working on the EA launcher. All my other games are running fine but now I downloaded BF 2042 in the EA launcher about to the same thing. Once you get the game to run you should be fine. I don't know if this will help you. But patience might get you to where I'm at. Peace!

Just tried to look for all of the suggested ideas but i'm not too techy.

I did do some digging on my own and noticed another post about their game crashing and found out where i can find the "Error Reason"

Error reason: Unhandled exception
Expression: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005)
Message: The thread attempted to write to an inaccessible address at 0x3F8.
File: <Unknown>(0)

Im hoping this can help me out a bit.
Thank you in advanced.

I did load into my game once and moved around for literally 5 seconds until it crashed, so maybe some hope :')

Hello, I have exactly the same error, it appeared unexpectedly, I didn’t do anything, I just updated the drivers from Nvidia, in a couple of days, I was able to load the game once and it let me play for a few seconds, I don’t remember what it is, if you manage to solve the problem or suddenly me, we need to tell each other

Are you using old game saves from before the 2.0 update?

This one is caused because some files cannot be edited without administrator rights i don't get why CDPR doesn't fix this by default

fix is simple you need 2 files to run as admin

\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077 --- REDprelauncher.exe
\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 --- Cyberpunk2077.exe

Bonus for other random crash fixes set v-sync in game options to correct monitor refresh rate if u have 60hz set to 60 if 144 set to 144 etc

and don't limit frames cause sometimes game spikes and since you are limited game cant keep up

+ add exception in antivirus for \Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077
++ turn off MSI afterburner

to this fix i came by in 2 week frustrating play literally couldn't finish act 1 without crashes after this fix no crashes no need to thank me but knowing steam community moderators this post will get deleted

I've founded a strange way to fix this problem.

Before starting game you need to delete directories
"C:\Users\Windows 11\AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red"
"C:\Users\Windows 11/AppData/Local/GOG.com"
"C:\Users\Windows 11\AppData\Local\REDEngine"

This method worked for me. Run cmd as admin and type sfc /scannow. It discovered Windows had one corrupted file and repaired it. I also disconnected a usb hub that was connected to my pc via usb. I've read some 3rd party usb devices can cause system instabilities due to unsigned drivers.

Also to disable any overclocking or undervolting. This game appears to be very temperamental when it comes to this. I previously undervolted my cpu and the game would crash more than usual and quicker. Sometimes it would even freeze the pc and make it restart. I've since disabled undervolting on the cpu and no problems with the game.

Since after doing all of these, haven't had a single crash.

Brother, this all helped me, I just tested everything at once and the game works, I rebooted a couple of times, it didn’t crash and now I’m playing

You have no idea how much this helped me. Due some technical issues, I had to replace most of my computer, including the motherboard and the microprocessor, RL has been nasty so I just recently got to play the game again. I downloaded a ton of mods that I know had worked well for me, and I started to have intermittent crashes, I figured maybe an old save was the reason, so I started a new game and I'd get crashes anywhere from either the introduction scenes to the first gig with Jackie.

I don't do overclocking, but I've set RedLauncher and Cyberpunk 2077 to run as Admin, and I've messed around with the VSync settings (This was done after an extensive process of elimination by discard some mods I thought were either outdated or no longer compatible for some reason, until I ran the game with no mods whatsoever and I kept crashing).

I did a small test, 30 minutes and no crash, RL calls me away again so I'll try again later and see how that goes. I'm cautiously optimistic. Thank you so very much for this comment!

Did you increase your monitors scaling? That was my issue with 125% scaling on 1440p Monitor. Dropping that to 100% resolved all issues.
