2.12 issues with linux
As of 2.12 I am unable to launch the game (or the launcher), I've tried experimental, beta and 8.04, I'm currently redownloading from scratch to see if perhaps that could be the problem, I'm just wondering if anyone else was running into any issues on linux.

While you did not give any specifics, if this is a common issue with the new patch, there will probably be some tinker steps on the protondb website soon.

If you use Windows, perhaps this problem won't happen. Do that and get back to me.
No.

There was no other information to provide, it simply didn't launch.

I have been reviewing protondb and am under the impression the issue was likely a file that didn't update properly, I'll provide an update when the game finishes installing.

did the last update, 2.11, launch for you?
בתאניה Feb 29, 2024 @ 7:52pm
The update works perfectly on my system with Proton Ge Custom With Ultra settings and RT at 4k with locked 60 with FSR Quality.

Since I use a X3D CPU im forcing the game to run on the Vcache cores using taskset, with this Steam launch option and using mangohud to lock the game at a 60 along with in game vsync of 60:
taskset -c 0-7 & mangohud %command%

OS: Garuda Linux x86_64 (A gaming version of Arch)
Host: X670E Pro RS
Kernel: 6.7.6-zen1-1-zen

Packages: 2072 (pacman)[stable], 5 (snap)
Shell: fish 3.7.0
Terminal: konsole 23.8.5

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (32) @ 5.76 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Memory: 6.46 GiB / 62.50 GiB (10%)

Full delete & reinstall and then using experimental proton in tandem with "--launcher skip" has the game running again.

I'm uncertain as to what actually caused the problem but I was unable to effectively launch the launcher even with the reinstall but I will continue to work on it to see I can stumble across any solutions but I don't particularly require the launcher itself.

If anyone else is having launcher problems I'd recommend using the --launcher skip command for now, I don't know what impact this might have for anyone utilizing redmod.
The Update will interfere with the mods, right?

Yes, updates always break mods regardless of what OS is being used

I'm starting to get tired, I joined Phantom Liberty but I might not even get to that part of the game because I started a new game, I'm getting tired of systematically installing mods because the repairs never end , I will try to find patience :steamfacepalm:

For those that do mod on linux, you do not require your launch modifiers to be that verbose, you only require "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm, version=n,b" %command%" as per CET's linux instructions: https://wiki.redmodding.org/cyber-engine-tweaks/getting-started/installing/linux-proton

I also had to install d3dcompiler_47 using protontricks to get my CET mods working - might be an issue with CET generally, or maybe just the mods I installed (and was required with patch 2.11 anyway).

But, no issues launching with the new patch here other than broken mods, which have been fixed by now (though YMMV, depending on which mods you use).

I used Linux about 15 years ago. it was total rubbish for gaming. so I tried a dual boot system. but it crashed every time. So I had to drop it. I can see the draw to Ubuntu it has always been way ahead of Windows in workflow and I'm glad Windows has started copying their design style a little, Ubuntu has a much better design though with multiple desktop screens available it makes working on anything so much easier. The main trouble back then was everything was Pentium and some games did not even work if you had an AMD also people were Nvidia graphics obsessed, and the only answer Ubuntu had to these driver dependencies was wine, and it didn't always work.

my point is I can see a lot has changed. Now that I have a spare computer I might try Linux again even if it's just for work.

another thing I only just found out recently is everything manufactured is run in Linux-based code. like your TV remote, your Wii, your server boards, your modems literally everything is a Linux system. I'm pretty sure Windows is Linux-based.:steamhappy:

I'm using endeavourOS and haven't had any issues unless the game's anticheat doesn't have 'allow proton' enabled (Looking at Destiny 2's lazy devs for that).
Almost every single game I've played on this pc played better on linux than on windows and so I entirely ditched windows around the time win11 came out, I attempted to dual boot win11 and tried it for about 7 hours and was so dissatisfied with the experience I just formatted it out for extra linux game space.

I do all of my work and play on linux now, although I use endeavourOS for gaming, I primarily use base arch for work.

Yeah I booted up windows 11 today to play a game and it runs like crap and have weird issues and it was blue screen crashing, none of those issues on Linux, works perfectly on Linux...same PC nothing was changed.

Running on Linux, too. It runs fine, performance-wise, but it's been crashing periodically a whole lot since the update. ;(

Got it running include CET on Linuxmint, thanks for the tipps here. The d3dcompiler_47 was the missing part one to get the start window from CET 1.32.2. But could not bind a key at start, because in steam the version.dll must be included in the startup.

Here i used this line

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b;winmm=n,b" %command%

Now missing part 3 occurs, same as with the console on skyrim and fallout. It was not possible to use the tilde key alone. It must be CTRL+Tilde and now it's okay. Cyberpunk is running with redmods and CET mods like on Windows before.
