Dogtown framerate drop and freezes
I've played through the main game 4 times, decided to play through again with after the 2.0 overhaul and Phantom Liberty DLC. No issues in night city at all, no crashes, no freeze ups and frame rates are fine all the way to level 48 with most of the main game and side quests done. So I decided to finally play the DLC and immediately noticed that while in Dogtown my frame rates are bad, game play is choppy as hell, and I've froze up a few times now. Most of the issue is while outside in the open. If I got back into Night City proper, no more issues. Is there a know issue with Dogtown not handling the game on high setting or raytracing well or something? Game freezes always result in having to restart,

Yes, the Dogtown area is more demanding on hardware, and system requirements have been increased since the DLC release (also for the main game, I think).

Freezes is often caused by overheating, so it sounds like you could benefit from lowering the settings a bit.

I even read an interview with a developer or producer or something prior to release, who recommended people to 'overhaul their cooling system', or something to that effect...:flammable:

Not had freezes (or overheats, rather) myself, but I often reduce DLSS setting from 'Balanced' to 'Performance' when in Dogtown. And I have fps capped to 60 in Nvidia control panel. Specs in profile, if curious.

thanks for the info. Overheating is not the issue for me. My PC case is loaded with 7 Noctua fans not including the fans on my GPU. But I did recalibrate my graphics settings by running the calibration video and resetting to default. I noticed that one of the affected changes was, as you mentioned, a lower DLSS setting than the one I had, and a couple raytracing settings are no longer at highest. Went back in game and *fingers crossed* things look more smooth and made it through the next mission stage. I may use fast travel more in dogdown and not go racing through the streets there as I normally do.
