Game stuck in Validating - Patching loop

Hey. I am having a problem where I have not been able to play this game since October, because it said that it needs to update first.

I click the UPDATE-button, in the Downloads window of Steam, I see that it starts validating a 56,2 GB update, but when it reaches 87%, the downloading stops (it never reaches 100%), it switches to "UPDATING 0%", then instantly to "PATCHING 16%" (a 47.0 GB update), holds at 16% for a minute, then I get "STOPPING DOWNLOAD", and it goes back to validating.

This loop just doesn't stop.
I've tried restarting the computer.
I've tried clearing the download cache.
I've tried changing the download region.
I've tried repairing the library.

Nothing is having an effect. I honestly can't play this game, and it's starting to bum me out. About the only thing I can think of right now is either uninstalling and reinstalling the game, or reinstalling Steam. Both of which seems a bit excessive.

Is there anybody on here that could possibly help me? I'm sincerely asking for help.

Never mind, uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed it.
