Game Cannot Launch (Crash on Launch)
I just bought it and installed it today. I wasted almost 1 hour due to this crash on launch.

  1. I have verified game file
  2. I have set the game to launch using administrator account
  3. I have configured the affinity and deselect several CPUs
  4. I have disabled "full screen optimization"
  5. I have run it in compatibility mode for Windows 8

None of that is working. So sad. I'll just refund it, before wasting another hour on trying to find a solution.

I use Windows 11 Home version 22H2, Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9960X CPU @ 3.10GHz, Corsair 32GB, Nvidia RTX 4080 16GB, 2x 2TB SSD Nvme, broadband internet connection 80Mbps (dedicated).

Same. I've been playing it for over 209 hours and love this game. But right now i can't launch it. It just crashes. It has never done this before. I'm on Win10. And i'm not using any mods. Never have.

Error reason: Assert
Expression: false
Message: Interal Kraken decompression error, code: 0
File: E:\R6.Release\dev\src\common\redCompression\src\wrapperKraken.cpp(346)

Same here. I remove every trace of it and reinstalled. Same thing. I even clear the directx shader cache, just in case.

Game crashes on launch.
When 2.0 came out the game kept crashing on startup i tried everything: i deleted all mods, i verified the game folders, i uninstalled and resinstalled the game, i then cyberpunk nuked the mods and verified and reinstalled the game AGAIN and it still didnt work, so every few weeks i would try to launch the game again to see if something would change and nothing ever did, then this morning it worked and i played for a few hours, when i came back in the evening it has gone back to crashing on launch again, someone please help me i feel like im going insane.

Good luck! I have had the same issue since update 2.0 and they have zero means of communicating with me through tickets ive sent, we are screwed just like they screwed us when the game originally launched.

I think i have found a fix, try turning off your anti-virus while launching the game, it seems to have worked for me.

Cyberpunk crashing on Launch
So ive been having a problem for some time now. Everytime i try to launch cyberpunk via Steam it launches the Red Launcher but when i press play there the RedLauncher closes itself and the game crashes before it could launch. My PC is good enough as ive already played and entire playthrough on launch. I already completely reinstalled Steam and cyberpunk, even making sure to remove all hidden files that a normal steam uninstall doesnt remove. I also never had mods for the game installed. I have the latest nvidia driver. Almost everytime i try to validate gamefiles it says "32 files failed to validate and will be reaquired" Anyone knows how to help? im really lost and cant think of anything anymore

Sorry! I wish I could help but I'm in the same boat! 5900x 3080gtx. Flawlessly played a full run through then just got Phantom Liberty during the Winter Sale. I've tried a clean install of the game twice, clean install of my GPU drivers. Validated without issues. Tried running with no VPN or anti-virus. Went through and manually updated some widows services. With mods, without mods. Multiple compatibility modes as administrator. Flatlines every time I go to launch the game without any details why. Hope someone on here who had similar issues figured it out.

100% cpu usage and crash on start up
The second i press PLAY on steam the game freezes and task manager shows me 90-95% CPU usage by the game. What is this?
I've got ryzen 5600x. My rig cannot be the problem as I've played this game before on the same pc.

It's compiling shaders. This can use up to 100% cpu. Check for overheating cpu. Can also try another PSU if one available. This is only if the game hard resets the computer not crashes.

I guess you were right after all. After 15 seconds the game proceeds through intros to the main menu, but again, i get the same freez and 100% cpu usage every single time at the start up. Does it have to compile shaders every single time?
My CPU goes up to 75 degrees

Yes every time you start it goes thru that. Same as Starfield, Hogwarts or games with unreal engine. So lot of games doing this now. I have water cooling so not an issue here. But it's freaky seems like a lockup til it finishes.

To prevent lockups you could change power plan or create a new one and set cpu to run at say 80% max. Use that to load the game then switch back to high performance after that. Just seem a pita to have to do that. Better off fixing the overheating cpu issue. Especially as the issue will happen with other games now and even more so in the future.

75 is fine.
~83 is thermal throttle limit for AM4. 95+ is thermal shutdown.
