Is byakko bugged right now?

So I just got to level 40 and completed all wakako gigs. Got apogee and byakko but for some reason I can't pull off the lunge move that it's known for. Is it bugged right now or is it only possible to do using a controller?

Googled a bit and read up on some posts everybody says to just sprint and then attack. So attack while holding down Lshift or attack after leaving Lshift?

Some say just look at the enemy and press attack.

Some say it is pulled off using the power attack mechanic did that and it just executed a normal power attack.

Or is it not working because I am playing on very hard?
