Is anybody else's CPU having overheating issues since 2.0 update??
I have a newly upgraded computer.

CPU: i7-13700F
GPU: AMD RX6800
Fan: Deepcool AK400

Game settings: Mostly Ultra, with all Shadow settings turned down to Medium.

It is ONLY this game which causes the red CPU light on my motherboard to light up and, when I check the temperature it is WAY too hot. This could cause permanent damage on my CPU.

I have also gone into my PC's power management settings and made the Minimum/Maximum processor load to 5%-90%, respectively. STILL overheats.

Has anyone else had this issue? Have you been able to fix it?

When changed to 90 max, my temperatures dropped on cpu and gpu by 20 and now is perfectly fine around 65-70 for both cpu and gpu.

same here with i7 8700k , i play on high setting . the frames are good and the temp rise up to 65c the highest with the warning red light on my MOBO.
normally its around 50 - 55c.

now .. when u say over heat .. what temp are we talking about ?

I have a brand new i9 and it hit 82% earlier. There is def a lot of CPU usage, but I am not overheating.

A game cannot make your CPU overheat. Only improper cooling can do that.

If it's cooled properly you should be fine even if it's at 100% load.

Check your cooling installation, making sure it's seated properly. Make sure your case has good ventilation, and that your cooler is sufficiently decent enough for the CPU you have. Use good quality thermal paste.

Given what you described and you recently upgrading, it's probably just not seated correctly.

This is what I thought too, but one more thing I forgot to mention.

I initially used the stock cooler that came with the i7-1300F when I upgraded. The red CPU light was turning on whenever I played ANY game. That's when I installed the AK400 cooler and it never overheated again.

It's now ONLY with Cyberpunk that it is overheating and red light turning on, so I don't think the fan is seated incorrectly.

Well, it's either insufficient or incorrectly seated. Period. This isn't an opinion. Some game may be heavier on the CPU load or such, but if you are overheating because of the cooling. Full stop.

That or something is critically and dangerously wrong with your PSU which, unless it's some shady cheap aliexpress PSU is highly unlikely, hence the previous statement.

Just on expected behaviour in the game, devs were warning before release that an 8 core CPU could hit 90% usage and heat issues could follow from that if a system had a weakness there. So it's not surprising if this is the one game where some are seeing issues. Suggestion was to test using cinebench to make sure cooling was adequate.

I have a Ryzen 7900X. So if temps are ever an issue caused by the game mine would be the perfect showpiece. However i have a very good AIO which allows it to stay nice and cool. I have to literally stress it at 100% in a benchmark to make it hit the 95c target it was designed to hit and stay at lmao.

My CPU was asleep with like 10% usage. Max was 37% when booting the game.

Temps never went higher than 84c which was when booting the game, and mostly stayed at around 70c.

If you are even going above 80c it is 100% a you problem and not the game. Get a better cooler or repaste. It's either one of them or both that is the issue.

12700kf @ 5.1Ghz all cores no heat issues at all

It's a 16 core Intel on air I would totally expect it to hit 90C when its at 100% load.

It can use up to 220W so its a HOT ONE!

Just re paste it and see if it makes any difference and then you will know.

did you take plastic foil from your cooler before mounting? :D
King of Persia Sep 26, 2023 @ 9:13pm
ok, so the cooler is the issue i guess. the computer store I bought the CPU at recommended the AK400 cooler and said it should be enough, so I guess its not...

I also went into my BIOS settings again and I turned OFF "Turbo mode", meaning no overclocking.

The CPU light no longer turns and and it no longer overheats, but this also means I am suffering a performance loss (very slight frame stutter in Cyberpunk under intense firefights etc).

It's a short-term solution but I'm guessing the cooler still isn't enough to keep it cooled at 100% load.

It's best to not think about it. If you're that scared, because I was when i saw the temps rising, slightly lower some settings. And use the benchmarks as a reference. This game is crisis tier so don't worry about it.

I'll give this a go too. I'll re-enable my Turbo mode but try limiting the frame rate in-game and see how I go. Will report back lol.
