Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 encountered an error caused by a corrupted or missing file
So I've heard, that today should be a new Raytracing Update and I wanted to check it out. I freshly downloaded the game and I cannot get past the launching part. I open the game - the launcher opens up - I press play - Error pops up (without the game even opening up).
As stated, I redownloaded the game. No mods, no scripts, no shaders. I let steam validate the integrity, it downloaded a few bites and again, it crashes.
I'm running an RTX4080 with an Ryzen 7700X and 32gbs of RAM. I don't know whether the game can't run, because I had mods installed like a year ago and they somehow redownload through steam, but I'm hoping someone can help me.

The problem is RE4text. Its outdated with the new Patch. Just wait till he updates it, and it should work again.
it's the mods i think, just tried disabling my mods, and it ran ok.
It's a widespread problem, look up the player numbers on SteamDB if you don't believe me.
Same problem.
Here is what I tried.

I reinstalled on another hard drive, fresh install.
Removed all mods.
Verify integrity of files.

None of these worked.
Strong assumption this is update side issue.

Go to the install folder and delete the folders inside the Cyberpunk folder, then Verify. This should download only the og Cyberpunk files.
I use Epix for Cyberpunk, but I found this forum first when searching for the crash. I went into Cyberpunk2077>red4ext>logs>red4ext.log and opened it up. I did a search for any errors and found it did not like this:

(RED4ext] [warning] Could not load plugin 'in_world_navigation'. Error code: 1114, msg: 'A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.', path: 'D:\GAMES\Epic Games\Cyberpunk2077\red4ext\plugins\in_world_navigation)

And it did not like this:

[RED4ext] [warning] Could not load plugin 'mod_settings'. Error code: 1114, msg: 'A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.', path: 'D:\GAMES\Epic Games\Cyberpunk2077\red4ext\plugins\mod_settings\mod_settings.dll'

The in_world_navigation is a mod for arrows showing you where to drive easier.

The mod_settings This mod "Adds a redscript-configurable "Mod Settings" page to the main menu that any mod can add a page to."

Like most people, I also disabled all of mods first, but Cyberpunk still picked up on these 2 files. I use Vortex to install most of my mods. So, it was easy to uninstall both within Vortex. Now my game is up and running. I just have to start enabling all 1000 of my mods again (slowly...one by one) and check if the updated Cyberpunk hates any other of my mods.

So, my advice is, try checking your log files and see if there are any errors present, and if you have the same 2 mods I mentioned, uninstall them.

Also, for good measure I would delete the "GAMES\Epic Games\Cyberpunk2077\r6\cache\mods" folder. It is ok to delete it because when you start the game again it will create a new folder. This has helped me a several times in the past.

Good luck chooms.

This wont work. I uninstalled, deleted all folders and mods originally. Then installed on a completely different drive. Doing a clean install on another drive with all mods previously uninstalled and folders deleted didn't change anything.
I found a working solution, but if you using lots of mods you won't like this.

Previously I uninstalled all mods and deleted their folders. This did not work.
Turns out some mods installed themselves into other folders.
-I suspect some of these were the ones causing my issue.

What I did was go to my Cyberpunk 2077 folder and did a broad search for "Vortex". Any mod files with "Vortex" in their name I deleted and removed that entire folder. I am not sure which of these mods specifically caused the issue, but to be totally sure I removed them all.

To summarize what I did to get it working was:
When your starting the game and when the prompt to play 2077 enable or disable mods on the screen shows up, select disable mods.
Uninstall all mods using Vortex. Also, manually delete those mod files.
Search for "Vortex" in your 2077 install folder. Delete those left over mod files containing "Vortex" in their file name and delete the entire folder where those "Vortex" mods files are present in.
Verify integrity of game to repair/replace any accidental deleted source game files.

It was working after I did these steps.

I suspect 1 or more of the mod files is the culprit.
I thought RedMod was supposed to resolve stuff like this after each patch. So annoying that everytime a new patch comes out, some mod breaks the game and 2077 doesn't even tell the user which mod it is that it's having trouble loading.
Go into the game folder and delete everything except "archives" then go to steam and "verify file integrity". It should redownload about 3.4gb worth of data and everything will work again.
Same here!! After update game crashes on startup. No mods, no extra stuff. Any solutions ;w;?

Remove mods
Worked so far. Didn't know Steam would also redownload the mod folders.
Thanks!
What folder exactly should i delete? I had mods like a year ago.... if they are keept after fresh install i need to delete them but i donbt know where they are.
I had the crashes too... Thanks to a tip from another user, I deleted the contents of R6/cache/modded and no more crashes, all my redscript mods started working again. Dunno if it's _the_ answer, but it's the one that seems to have worked for me.

Just delete all of the folders in the Cyberpunk folder. This way, Steam, when validating, practically redownloads the entire game, but without mods.
If it still does not work, look through the few files you haven't deleted and get rid of those too and revalidate again.
(Just in case, you're worried: this won't delete the safegame. Steam will download those as well.)
