I Walk The Line game ending bug - 2 years later
Hello, game dropped me in on the boss early before I made it to the van, so I beat her.

After the van, all the shutters are down, and I cannot get out. Googling and searching these discussions reveal TONS of years old chains of people complaining of the same bug, and no one ever resolves it. Am I screwed?

Yup sounds like previous save is your only option.

I'm guessing CPDR is just not technically capable of fixing this one. Far too many people having the issue, for far too long - and it's game breaking.

Any idea how to avoid the bug when I replay this?

I've never managed to do what you have done so not really sure. You do go past the that corridor as you are approaching from the upper level, then have to go down to the van and back up again. Just stick to the objective and don't get distracted by long empty interesting looking corridors.

The boss fight was just a quick pop into a side hall I intended to use to get to the other end of the atrium. As soon as I popped my head in the door - I got an optional quest to drop sasquatch. I didn't want to complete the main quest without doing the sidequest - so I went and dropped her. I suspect that broke it for me, but in the dozens of threads on this issue, I see tons of people still having the bug even if they didn't drop her already. Supposedly a door should still be open, however if you don't. About to play through it again, so here's hoping.

Crazy to me, 2 years later and the dev team declaring 'Mission Accomplished', one of their main quests is still game breakingly broken.

Yeah there are a number of points in the game where playing things out of order break the quest. The better game designers like Beth and Rockstar avoid it for the most part.

Just more evidence that wherever the money went in this game it was not the coding. Just putting a roller door at the end of that corridor would fix it.

For those who want to the quest 'I walk the line' (main quest so why avoid it) don't do the Sasquasht before the van (when Placide, your contractor tell you to scan it quickly). All the door for the next stage will be closed and no solution. If you have done the van before, there is, I think 3 door possible for the next step, one is the cinema entry, another is in the fast-food, I don't know where is the last (It 's door/passage and they are open, not closed but only if you let the sasquasht for after).
The Sasquasht event close all the door of the place and when defeated door open but the bug close them again if you do the van after.
CD Red Projekt ... You are definitively not serious studio or you don't care only for ou money (not the only bug, and driving is a joke, road trip are good, try first person for more immersion).

Initially I wanted to push back on this and say it's more QA's fault, but I've worked software dev enough to know there's a great chance that bug was reported and simply not addressed. Before game release - I'm willing to shift the blame all the way to the OG culprits - management. They demanded the ship date. That said, Over a year and a handful of patches... yeah, I'm letting QA off the hook. I find it less likely they missed it, and more likely CPDR just didn't care any more.

What a shame.

Yeah, there is also the window in one of Wakako's quests were it's possible to climb out a window but not back through it. Rather than trouble shoot the issue they took the glass out of an adjacent window so V had another way to get back in.

it was shareholders who pushed it early, management gave the order they got given. :< Really sad how it all turned out. I'm coming back now its supposedly all how it should have been at launch to play it.

Interesting, I have done that mission multiple times and have not encountered that issue. To be honest, I always got to the Sasquath ( misspelled i think ) after everything else. So I guess doing her " out of order " breaks the mission. Only thing I can suggest is reloading an older save prior to meeting her and just avoid her until later in the mission.

it makes me chuckle when people type out things like 'there have been loads and loads of posts on this bug and they still have not fixed it' ..and yet people still don't save before the encounter :steamhappy: ..and for the record ive never encountered this bug, been playing a while too, ..guess im lucky :)

I played through it about 3 months ago finally, same patch though. It's... good enough. It's not the game we were promised though. Not by a long shot. It's also still fairly buggy but you can get through it.

Yeah? You read through all the forum discussions first so you know how to avoid all the bugs in the game before you play it? That sounds like a blast. You must get a lot of chuckles at us rubes!

How do you get to the mini boss as she is locked behind a door?

After the van you are told to go up the lift shaft.

I have literally never seen a thread about this except this one. Next time I have this mission I'm going to try and kill her before I go to the van.

I just did the quest and completely missed doing the van and went straight to the mini boss and the doors behind her opened and let me go to the agent. So if it was a bug they have fixed it.
