New rx6600 GPU still getting trash FPS
I just upgraded my GTX970 to an xt6600. I have 32gigs ram, i7 6700 cpu.

my save file in cyberpunk worked decently on my old GPU with settings on low at around 30fps....UNTIl i have 70hrs playtime and 5MB save file size. Then, as I was playing the game, a hard stutter occurred, and ever since the game would not break 20fps and just seemed much more laggy in general.

So, I spent hundreds of dollars I absolutely do not have, and upgraded my GPU and PSU. I genuinely cannot explain how excited I was all week at work knowing that I would be able to play my favorite game at 60fps on at least medium settings for my upcoming 3-day weekend. I was so excited.

Obviously nothing worked at first, the GPU was installed and lighting up but it took 8 restarts before the GPU was detected and my monitor would actually turn on....Ok, cool, at least its finally working, now lets install drivers and get to playing, right?

Install drivers, boot up cyberpunk, load into my save file which i havent touched for a week now, and during the loading screens I notice how incredibly detailed everything is compared to before. I am SO PUMPED looking at this level of fidelity and knowing I will finally be able to melee enemies without having to spend 10 seconds letting my FPS settle so I can make sure theyre actually in front of me or just on my screen at all.

Obviously none of this ever happened, the game immediately went right back to being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slideshow powerpoint presentation, and I am at a total loss. I have tried everything I can think of with my generally intermediate knowledge of this stuff. up to date drivers for gpu, bios, firmware, chipset, etc. Hardware is all functional. Nothing is reaching high temps, nothing is exceeding 50% usage rate according to task manager or the radeon software....I tried downloading a mod to enable FSR2.1 or something but everytime i clicked the install link, it just downloaded modmanager over and over and over without ever actually installing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mod.

Basically, nothing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ works despite me having MORE than the recommended specs, and I am about ready to just give up on PC gaming in general because I cannot afford the absolute insanity that playing modern games has become. Like I need a $`10,000 PC if I want to play starfield. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WHY>??

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG PLEASE GOD

My mid-range system plays Cyberpunk at Ultra 1440p with FSR and RT disabled at stable 75fps (fps limit enabled to avoid overstressing the system) No stuttering or drops. It gets a little hotter than I'd like at times, especially the VRM, but that's a story for another discussion.
My specs

ASRock Radeon RX 6800 XT
Intel® Core™ i5-13500
32GB 2x16 3200Mhz RAM

man this all sounds so painfull and idk how to help you, maybe there is some PSU problems or something... maybe you should try play this via GeForce NOW and this will be easier than fix your PC. I had some PC issues when CP2077 comes out and did my first playtrhough this way and it works very smooth...and today it should be even better with their 4080 gpus

Your CPU is 7+ years old...

It's likely dying...

Did you use DDU to remove nvidia drivers? But I'm guessing your cpu is limiting your performance now

The system requirements are for 30fps. Your CPU is equal to the recommended CPU for 30fps, so even if you find out what caused you performance degradation you will not get a 60fps experience with that CPU. I would lock to 30fps to keep a decent frame pacing and make it feel smoother.

Have you checked your CPU temps? That's an old CPU, and if you haven't maintained the cooler or thermal compound you could simply be experiencing thermal throttling. This is the first thing that I would check for general system performance degradation, especially on such an aging system.

This. Since you've switched from Nvidia to AMD I would definitely DDU and reinstall Adrenaline (there are tutorials for DDU on YouTube if you should need them). I'd also go into AppData > Local > CD Projekt Red and delete the Cyberpunk 2077 directory there. Then verify the game in Steam before relaunching.
