Red horizontal lines/glitchyness that won't go away

So I was going to post this earlier because I could not find a solution that worked, but I ended up fixing it so thought I would post for anyone else experiencing the same thing and other suggested solutions haven't worked for them.

So basically I was doing the quest near the beginning of the game "The Pickup" and during the combat that follows in that mission I would have red screen glitches and my map would glitch out as well, these were clearly not actual hardware/software glitches but something in the game to denote damage or hacking or something else.

The problem was that these glitches would persist indefinitely after combat had ended, so I would be running around or driving in the city and it would be basically blinding me and making the game unplayable.

I saw other people who mentioned something similar mention drinking alcohol or diving in to water and it worked for them, but it did not work for me at all, or if it worked it would only work temporarily(drank alcohol and it would go away only until the drunk effect went away).

I was about to give up and uninstall as the game was unplayable, but I decided to try one more thing that I had not seen suggested, I went back to the apartment and stored all of my items and then slept and when I woke up everything was fixed.

So if you are in the same boat, give sleeping a shot(passing time in the menu would not work, only actually sleeping in the bed).

Necro post, but I found that skipping dialogue during a conversation fixes this too
