Crashing during gig "going up or going down"

As I enter El Gallo's workshop trying to go down the stairs ,the fps takes a massive hit and the game crashes, I tried lowering graphics to the lowest settings but it did not help. Rebooted pc and tried to go down the stairs about 4 times but it crashes each time.
