Performance on new RTX 3080 Ti
Hi,

Have just bought a RTX 3080 Ti to play Cyberpunk. It was my impression from watching benchmarks that it can pretty much hit 60fps with RT even at 4K with DLSS, but I'm getting much lower performance than I'd expect..

PC specs - 3440 x 1440 Ultrawide, RTX 3080 Ti 12GB, Ryzen 3700x, 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM, installed on a M.2 SSD

I've tried to run the game and benchmark on Ray Tracing Ultra settings with DLSS set to Balanced and RT Lighting notched down to Medium. In indoor scenes I'm getting around 55fps but in busier outdoor scenes, even in daylight, the average performance seems to be around 40-45fps. It can even have slight drops below 40.

If I have a performance monitor open, CPU is only sitting around 40%, GPU VRAM and RAM between 60-70%..

Even if I turn ray tracing off completely, the benchmarks get 70-80 fps on DLSS balanced, but it can still dip below 60 on outdoor scenes.

What am I missing? Surely I should expect better performance on a 3080 Ti?

most of those yt vids are before 1.5 and 1.6. They have reworked the way rt works in the game and it has caused a hit in fps of about 15 to 20 percent for most.

With raytracing off put screen space reflections on high instead of ultra and it'll shoot up in fps. On a 3090 the game was far more fun in 4k with quality dlss and no raytracing for me. Actually prefer the sharper lighting and reflections.

smooth 4K on a 3080 ti with RT on won't happen, even the 3090 will struggle with that

Turn off RT if you really want to play at that resolution, or stick to 1080p or 2K if ya want RT on

This isn't true.

It is true, back when I was on a 1070 I lost 15fps between 1.5 and 1.6 with same settings, so those even without RT were effected

Your own post shows why it wasn't true, the claim made was that RT was the reason why people lost performance, which wasn't the case-it was a specific problem with a windows update causing a debugging tool to launch and run in the background on nvidia hardware.

If "RT was reworked" and that's "the reason why people lost performance", then it's impossible for your no RT capable card to have been affected by it.

the windows update issue you are talking about didn't apply to me cause I am on windows 10 not 11 and I still lost peformance, so its a game issue

Yes it can, I can get 60 FPS stable at 4K with a 3080 Non-Ti. Requires DLSS on Ultra Performance but it doesn't look nearly as bad as you'd think at 4K.

Raytracing is CPU+GPU, the 3700X just isn't fast enough, I had pretty bad performance with a 3900X.

The frames you're getting are more or less what I'm getting with a 3080, you're being bottlenecked.

You're talking about a bottleneck but thats uhm.....

Not a bottleneck if a CPU usage is only 40%

Usage percentages are only indicative of a CPU bottleneck when it comes to thread count. It doesn't account for low IPC, low frequency, etc.

My 3080 runs at 90~99% in Cyberpunk, 10850K runs around 60%, but I'm getting the same (or even better) performance.

That doesnt mean there's a bottleneck in your system.

The game litterally does not improve much at all changing settings. The major difference litterally comes from RTX.

Nobody who has RTX on will play above 50 in world.

No 3080, no 3090, no I9 29900 or whatever thhe latest high end intel cpu is.

Clearly you don't know what DLSS is.

I get 60 at 2160p and 70~80 at 1440p.

What are you even on? There's plenty of benchmarks that prove you wrong.

Screw benchmarks, I see it with my own eyes.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm running native, but I use DLSS.

DLSS wont matter.

You still dip below 50 in town.

Pfft, doesn't even drop below 58 on demanding areas with the new driver.
